Update: Cabin Air Filter Replacement Schedule

At the OH meet, I brought several CAF to sell, and sold out so quickly, I didn't even get one. I pulled mine out at the meet (someone got a picture, I don't remember who, but if you see this, please post it!!). I finally got around to replacing mine this afternoon, but before I did, I took a laser thermometer, and measured the air temp coming out of the vents......70 degrees. I then turned the car off, (I had removed the glove box beforehand) and swapped the old filter for a new one. I restarted the car, and let it run for 5 minutes, and took the temp again....59 degrees. I could feel more airflow as well. Here's my point.....that CAF was only around 8 or 9 months old. I replaced it a few weeks after I got my car. I am going to STRONGLY suggest that you at least check, if not replace the stupid thing every 6 months, to maintain good airflow.

Mine seems colder and stronger now too...it was actually a little too cold tonight...something that hadn't really happened in a while. I had noticed I was running the A/C on fan speed 3 more often, whereas I had previously only run it on 1 or 2...now I've gone back to 2 max, and am getting the same airflow I was getting out of 3.Glad I could finally get it replaced...thanks for bringing all of those up for us! And I'm glad you finally got one for yourself too.

I too was lucky enough to get one of these filters. And MAN! what a difference it made. Much better air flow, and my allergies have been better... Thanks again for bring the "extras" along for us and glad you got to replace yours now!

My Vibe is nearly 3 yrs old with 70K miles, and I just changed my CAF for the first time. the original was nearly black! haven't changed it because of the expense and difficulty of finding a new one.I took the advice from another thread and bought a home furnace filter and cutting it down to fit. the filter cost $2 and I'll get 3 or 4 CAF's out of it.

oops. i never changed the filter in my vibe after 34K miles and 2 yrs. i highly doubt the dealership changed it once i traded it in either.
