I have already called this insurance company......looks like I will be paying the $250 deductible to get this fixed. I highly doubt all the scratches will buff out, they are pretty deep. The AR-15 is loaded and ready to do some kill'n

My only dog that might do it is the 9month old puppy (85lb black lab) but his paws are a lot bigger than the prints left on the hood. Pretty sure it happened last night (we keep the dogs inside at night) or it happened while it was parked at work. ramenboy I have no problem with you borrowing the AR but the Left Wing freaks that control your state might.

Man I feel for you, in 1989 I bought a brand new Camaro and some dork tossed an egg on my hood, the scratches from the shell tore the paint up. They had to repaint the entire hood and both front quarter panels. Over $900.00.

My wife's escort got a drive by egging (while at a funeral, even...) it hit so hard it busted the front turn signal and spidered the paint on the plastic bumper...Somebody was just begging for bad karma that day...

Baaad Doggy! I feel for you, man. It pains me to see scrtches like that in that color. Same as mine. Are you sure it was one of your dogs?I worked in a car wash or 14 years. Eggs do the most damage to car paint bar none. It actually chips the paint in a unique eg pattern. It also smells bad when you cleaned it. Man, I hated Halloween.

Wow that really sucks... Are you sure it was a dog? I don't know why dogs would want to jump onto a hood of a car. I know that cats do... never heard of dogs doing that. Maybe it was a big cat? Bobtail or something? If that sort of thing is going on where you live, I highly suggest getting a car cover. It will at least provide some type of protection. The AR-15 is for backup!

Almost doubt it was a dog that did it. The paw prints are just way to big for a cat. We do have coyote around here but I have never seen one anywhere near our property.I told the wife that if I find out it is her puppy, it is getting donated to the humane society.

they look like dog prints to me. I had a dog that liked to jump up on the side of a car door to see the people driving but never on the hood. He's gone.... and by the looks of the scratches the dog needs its nails trimmed sorry about your luck.I have a 12 year old boy that thinks scratches on the side of the car from bicycle handlebars is neat.

I don't get why a dog would jump on the hood unless someone threw a ball up there, or it chased something???? We've had lots of dogs (dogs of sufficient size to be able to jump on a car hood) and they tend not to jump on anything unless motivated. Anyway, that sucks but maybe another shot of clear coat would help protec t the hood.p.s. (To share pain)Got a third speeding ticket in yet another trap. The lame city I live in is trying to tax its citizens anyway possible. They even invested 1.5 Million in remote smart swipe card technology so that can issue tickets faster. My fault 10KM/hr over, but that's another thread.

it looks like someone put a dog on your hood and he didnt want to be on it and ran off the front bumper. theres just the 2 or three prints and they arent smuged. on the first pic you see 2 main prints with scratchs sliding perpendicular almost to the print, so unless it was a dog/cat on the hood and was chased by something that jumped on the side to get it.

Man, those do look kinda bad. I get pissed whenever I visit my Grandparent's and their cats use my roof as a look out tower! What's even worse is when the military gate guards randomly have their dogs do an explosives check on your car. They pounce up and lean on your window sill with their claws. Luckily it hasn't happened with my car yet.

I would put money on a dog and not a cat. Cats claws retract and are a lot sharper than a dogs. A cat would leave fine scratches in the paint and I have yet to see a cat put its paws on the side of a car to get up on it. Cats jump to well to lean on the car. I have had several cats on cars over the years and the most they have done was leave paw prints.

Cat scratches are fine scratches, you can look at my hatch or the my right front part of my hood. If the dog caught his reflection he might of went after it, thinking it was another dog.I've seen dogs jump on top of cars before. After looking at your pictures again, it does look like someone set the dog on your hood as there should've of been some streak prints leading up to the prints on the top, but it just looks like it was set there.

Another victim of the crappy paint on a Vibe. I have dog scratches on the side of mine. Most other car paint jobs would survive.

it would have looked like that (sort of) after a year of occasional highway driving!

Sorry to hear about your car, that stinks and I would definitely go after whoever did this. However, I am not fully convinced that a dog put itself up on your car. When I took a look at the bumper shot (not the one with the emblem, the other one), it looked to me like something had been rubbed against it.And then, in the picture I have attached, dog nails don't come out of the back of the foot and there is a clear scratch behind the paw mark. Had the dog slid off of the car, you wouldn't have had as clear of paw marks as you see (trust me, I know EXACTLY what this looks like - my German Shepard got my car when I was a teen - and it was my fault). Are you certain someone didn't do this to your car and then set the dog on it to make it look like the dog had done it?

way to go, csi charlie!!!!!!!!!although i'll have to dis agree with one point...that nail 'in the back' could be the dog's dew claw...kind of like the 'thumb' part of its paw...but that's just me...i'm a different breed of cat (or dog in this case)hope it got fixed, joe\m/ >.< \m/

I am willing to conceed that I may be wrong, I see your point!!!

I just got the estimate from the insurance company.......$680 to repaint the hood, front bumper, blend the fenders and replace the Pontiac symbol.I don't have to pay a single dime since it fell under comprehensive and ther is a ZERO deductible. I'm still not happy about.
