This video takes a minute to load but is awsome, and tragic.

The site is blocked from work, but I think I know what it is. It's the turbo VW that pulled over because of a fire. Futile extinguishing attempts were made with a small fire ext right?That's probably because their turbo ran so hot that it eventually ignited the firewall. All it took was time for it to spread.

Mase: yes the VW. So the exhaust manifold must of been cherry hot and poof that's it; can this happen to Vibes? Not a safe design but the VW didn't look stock. I think the fire extinguisher came a day late and a dollar short to help. I'm buying one at lunch to replace my 10-year-old small one I had in my truck.Cheers

Wonder if the insurance company seized a copy of the entire video? That would make for an interesting claim.

I've seen the manifold melt the windshield gutter on the Vibe before. I think everything can be easily protected though by mounting some heat shields on the firewall and wrapping any nearby hoses in fire tape.

First - don't open a hood when there's smoke wafting out of it. Second - call 911. Third - exit the vehicle and stay out of it. Fourth - grab a cam and enjoy the fireworks from a safe distance, your insurance probably isn't going to cover it all. Nice car'b'que
