So this morning I parked on the side of a street. When I left & closed my door, the bottom edge caught on the grass. Like a moron I just yanked it closed This popped the bottom trim off the clips on the top and bottom of the trim nearest the door edge. Fortunately, nothing is broken, but I'm not sure how to get it back on. The trim attaches to the posts by sliding forward over them - sort of like how you mount a wall phone by sliding it over the head of a screw. So I can't just push it back on, and I can't seem to slide it, either. It's glued at the top.Anyone put these pieces off/on before? Your help is greatly appreciated!

My wife has done this twice now to mine.First time I had the dealer fix it... um err under warranty.Haven't fixed it this time. I believe you'll need to find some way to pull the post out of the door. Then if the post isn't to bad of shape put it in the clip of the cladding and push it back in. The post just pushes in, it's just plastic.Getting the post out is the tough part. Should be able to pull it with a lot of effort.

Pop the inside door panel off and try pushing out from the inside while pushing in from the oustide. Should be able to pop the clip back in unless it's totally stripped. Then you will have to find a way to fix the clip.

It's way down where it's metal on both sides of the door, not where the interior panel is, so I can't get to the other side of the clip. Tried pulling it out- got one side of the clip out, then busted the other, taking the problem from bad to worse. As usually happens when I attempt home repairs. Guess it's off to the dealer. time for my 15k service anyway.....Thanks for the suggestions.

I just noticed that mine was like that tonight. I had my Vibe taken in to the dealership a couple of weeks ago to have the adhesive on the molding redone because it was coming loose. I think they didn't get the last peg clipped in correctly. Not sure if I want to try it myself or not cause I know that I will do the same thing as GMJAP did. But it looks so easy to pop it back in. I will have to look at it more in the light tomorrow to see of I want to attempt it. I will probably have to go back to the dealership to have the adhesive put on again cause I will have to pull it out a ways. Oh the decisions!!

Well I attempted to fix mine this weekend. Ended up breaking 2 clips. Not to worried about it, I'll just have the dealership get me 2 clips.-Dan

that happened on my passenger side door. same thing caught on the grass and yanked closed. i just pulled the cladding out far enough to see where the clip was and gave it a quick 'palm strike' (call me bruce lee) and it popped back in. you gotta do it fast, or the clip will break

still in the cladding, so basically it just had to clip back inin simple terms, it popped out, so if not broken, it shoudl pop back in. like a disloacted shoulder but less painful

I looked at mine and i think I will just take it to the dealership and have them redo it. The way it looked to me was that there is a peg attached to the door and a slide on the molding and the peg slides into the slot in the slide. Hitting the molding in my case would probably just result in the breaking of the peg or the slot and requiring me to buy new molding. Think I will pass on that. Here is a pic of the two pieces. Yours is like mine, the clip came out of the molding not the door.

hmm sorta looks like mine when i bought it, but the dealership fixed it before i picked it up. did the clip break off of the molding? or just pop out of the modling

Looks like it just pulled out of the molding in the pic. That's what mine did anyway.

When the dealership reattached the molding they just never clipped it back in. It is getting fixed tomorrow, hopefully for the last time.

looks like a common problem us vibe guys. my wife did it to our car too. still sitting out. on another note. same hot hot day, the side stripe, started sagging like ythe glue was melting. i removed it.

So this happened to the parent's Vibe too.- They took it into the dealer and the dealer fixed it under warranty.- I attempted to fix it myself, and broke 2 clips. When I took it in to the same dealer for 15K svc, they fixed it for about $110 !!LESSON here: Take it to the dealer first!If your dealer isn't co-operative and you decide to fix it yourself, the clips are GM part # 94848834 and can be got $2.30 each on gmpartsdirect.com
