Ok... now I know the answer to this but I'm curious as to what everyone else thinks... When you get an oil change and you see a sticker on the window...I'll explain the reason for the poll after a few people have answered.

They put when my next change should take place. When i was able to do my own changes when i had my own driveway I would not use a sticker.

I always take the sticker off. It takes away from the looks of the car. It's also a symbol of me being too lazy to change my own oil.

the sticker gives me an idea of when the next approximate time/miles for an oil change is due. best to go by the silly maintenance log the manufacturer gives so you can prove you did your regular maintenance.

I can't remember ever taking my car in to get the oil changed, but I guess if you do they put a reminder sticker on for the next change? I use one of the trip meters to track miles between oil changes.

well got a customer today who insisted she was just in for an oil change back in april. I pulled her file and her last visit was in january. She insisted she was in back in april as her sticker said april on it but she said they wrote the milage down wrong, it said 37,000 miles and she was just at 34,000 so she called us morons.Well after MUCH discussion I think I somewhat convinced her that her last visit was indeed in January and three months from that point would be April. Her milage also at 34,000 at the time would be about 37,000 at her next visit. That the sticker was NOT proof she was in but there as a reminder to come back in again. Needless to say its now Aug and she's well over due...

DIY here too. I do so many miles in a month (4,400) that it only makes sense to do them myself. $20.00 compared to $35.00+.

I don't go by the sticker, I usually take it off since they always stick it to the tint on the windshield. I reset one trip odo and when I see 2600 miles or so, I call for an appointment. usually get it done right at or slightly before 3000.

I usually wait for 5000Km but I use the sticker. I don't go by date at all because I'd be getting an oil change every 1000km if I did it every three months. I really don't drive very often. So sometimes I'm 6 months between oil changes. I just got it changed two weeks ago and before that was in January.

No sticker for me. I change my own oil.

I move the sticker to the mirror in the visor and reset one od the Trip meters to see when I need an oil change, and my dealer has lifetime free oil changes

the place I go writes with a pen on the sticker, and all the info fades before the next change is due!

I too am a DIYer and I use Trip #2 to track my mileage, I'm almost due (2900mi).

I just performed my first oil changes in many years by changing both vehicles to synthetic. Feels good not to pay for it. We don't need the sticker, because I just enter the date and milage in the maintenance tracker on the GPS, and a reminder pops up on the screen when the time for the next change is near.

That's the OEM GPS doing that for you? Wow, that's freakin' cool! I do my own... I keep track of my milage and maintenance using Pocket Vehicle Manager

Trip B for oil, A for gas.And yeah, the stock NAV keeps track of that..it always flaked out on me right until the month before I sold it.. I could probably setup the computer I have in there to do the same thing..though it'd have to do it by months, and not miles..

I've always changed oil at 2,000 miles so I just modify the sticker when I get it done.

I buy the Fram X2 oil filters (7K miles) and they come with stickers! So, yeah, I change my oil AND put the next change on the sticker.
