took the vibe into the dealer today and initially they said it might be the "bearing clutch" 9.1 hours of labour and $74.00 part...but wasn't sure if it was something that would be covered under the powertrain warranty without talking to the tech...does anyone here know?

Probably the throw out bearing and it should be covered. How many miles on your car? They should look at the clutch while they have it open and it's under warranty. Mine bearing went at about 30K of mostly highway driving so it wasn't used much. Stuff happens. If the dealer didn't tell you, it's important to put the car in neutral and release the clutch when stopped. Holding it in will cause the bearing to wear faster. If it's making a jingling or whirlying sound with the clutch released, then it should be the throw out bearing.

I would expect a bad throwout bearing to make noise when the clutch pedal was pushed in and the throwout bearing was loaded and spinning. Why would it make noise when the clutch was engaged/pedal let out/bearing not spinning?OT - the dealer's term "bearing clutch" reminded me of how painfully hard a woman can squeeze your hand during labor/childbirth

THIS JUST IN....dealership called and said its either the bearing within the tranny (covered and yippee) or it's the release bearing on the clutch (about 500 bones CAD with labour)...anyone want to make any wagers as to which it might be?

Hard to say. Joatman, worn through outs tend to make more noise unloaded when they're loose and not held in place by pressure but it depends on the problem.
