I don't know about you guys...but this is terrible in my eyes....to have been given a one off vehicle designed by Chip Foose and to try and sell it on ebay.... that's just plain wrong.... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...QrdZ1

I think it's just as greedy as the many, many people who have been on Pimp My Ride who turned right around and sold their cars on eBay, or at least tried to, whether or not they sold is another matter. Usually they had some bogus reason why they were trying to sell it, when you could tell from the Buy it Now price that they were just trying to make a quick buck...rude, unappreciative, and greedy, that's what I think.

Maybe they couldn't afford to pay for the taxes and such on all the mods. Recipients are responsible for all taxes and fees on this show (we've nominated someone and noted that in the submission rules).

Edit: I used the "Ask seller a question" function to ask why they're selling...so we'll see if they answer I guess.

Couple of curious things to note: First, the seller's ID is "cfw11"....Could this be Chip Foose himself?Second, note the main auction photo is in the Overhaulin' Garage (see logo on floor). Maybe the show got it back? (It's the same photo as on the overhaulin.com site)

Nope, doesn't look like Chip Foose is the seller...here's the response I got:"When my car got overhauled I had already bought another car because I knew I wasnt going to be able to drive my explorer everyday casue it does attract a lot of attention. Im only 20 years old and I cant afford insurance on 2 vehicles."In which case, I have to wonder why he signed up at all for the show...I mean, he had to know whatever his vehicle ended up looking like, it would attract a lot of attention...

to be honest; say you have a car you dont really like, even if it got fixed up. somehow, you get it on the show, and viola! you sell the car and get something you like!

Just so you know, the owner is a girl:http://www.overhaulin.com/show_s1-7.aspx?season=1And they really don't "sign up" to get overhauled; someone else has to nominate it and be "in on the job."

but "gay" is a term for girlish actions so the truck would look girlish, not gay.

Still, surely you can turn down a nomination if you know you won't want to drive it?

IMHO, that's a different situation. Maybe it's just me being too nice, but to me, it seems rude to have somebody do all of that stuff for you then turn around and sell it to try to make money off of it. Like somebody giving you a gift and then you turn around and throw it in the trash in front of them or put it up on eBay the next day. And I'm sure word has gotten back to the Overhaulin' people by now, so they know about it. If I was one of them, I would feel insulted and taken advantage of. That's my take on it...just my opinion.Edit: The person's response to me states they already bought the 2nd car before they went on the show, so apparently they could afford a different vehicle already.

actually though, the whole point of the show is for you to see what they do to the car. im sure they could care less who they do it for and what they do with it when they recieve it. i could be wrong though.hell, on pimp my ride, if you pay attention, they make fun of some of the stuff they do to the cars.

The thing with overhauling is the person whos car is taken doesnt know its being fixed up. it usually gets stolen or towed and the person freaks out, the ppl that host the show call them and pretend they are like insurance agents or police and drag the wait out longer until the car is done then surprise the person. I do think its a B!tch move to sell the car, but you have to admit these car shows over do the car so much its ridiculous. I wouldnt drive that explorer, maybe once, but after that i wouldnt. it draws attention and then it would probably get stolen or broken into. I hate pimp my ride cuz they put tv's in the back of a car..(removed) who will watch tv inthe back....seriously.....
