Dashboard rattles revisited

I've been chasing a dashboard vibration noise on my GT. Searching this forum and others, I come up with several possibilities including the instrument bezel, roof pillar, etc. Mine seems to be coming from very near (or inside) the gas gauge. I removed the instrument bezel and drove around a while, it still does it. The car must warm up a couple minutes (heat is on) and it happens most at around 2900 RPM but also sometimes up toward 4000 or as low as 1500. Accelerating seems worse than steady speed. The air vent near the A/C switch is an obvious suspect but touching it anywhere including inside the dash doesn't stop the noise. Any suggestions welcome -- I'll post updates at http://vibeowner.home.attbi.com

Same here - i fixed the left round vent (near gas gauge) by wedging

some padding where the flex hose goes around the round outlet. Next I need to tackle the round vent near the temp gauge.

Nobody has mentioned squeek in vent to left of steering wheel. I can't figure how to pull cover off to check it out. Pulls out a half inch or so but don't want to really pull and break something... If you have any ideas I'd like to hear them otherwise back to dealer I go....

Recently I've noticed an annoying squeaking coming from the dash. I finally isolated it to the gauge housings. If you grab them and push/pull around you can hear it. It looks like the plastic from the gauge housings is rubbing the plastic dash itself. Perhaps it's the cold weather but even when the inside warms up I hear it. I've had my Vibe since July and haven't noticed it. Anyone else had this problem?

had loosened over time. I had to remove the silver "surround" to get at it. The car is vault quiet now - sort of !

Thanks for the heads up. Actually after I posted this I dug a little deeper and found that tread myself. Hopefully I can get the dealer to fix this before X-mas. My dad works at that dealership so I'm counting on getting this taken care of asap. Thanks again! Andrew
