my headliner has a lot of black crap on it because of driving with the moonroof/windows open so much. what would be the easiest way to clean the mofo?

Hey drunkenboy...my boyfriend can probably tell you exactly how to do this, easily too--he used to do interiors/upholstery for a living. But I can't get ahold of him right now--as soon as he's back from lunch I'll tell him to sign on and look at this!

Ok I'll do that! He just bought a '91 GMC Syclone truck from down in that area a couple months ago--wish we'd have known then! Although...he's not really a beer fan, but if you know someplace that makes good margaritas we'd be all over it!

I had some stains in the headliner when I got my Vibe. I bought a yellow can of "Tuff Stuff" cleaner (picked mine up at Walmart when looking for something to clean the seats) it cleaned the seats alright but got the headliner suprisingly well. Don't use it on the dash because it will leave spots. Just spray on the foam to let it soak, then gently scrub it away with a clean cloth. At least it worked for the unknown stains in mine....

I second the tuff stuff idea. Be sure that you don't use a towel that is anything other than white. I've used those white terry cloth towels that you can get wherever in the automotive section with farily good success. Don't scrub it, as the fabric on the headliner gets kinda weird looking - almost fuzzy - after the fact. If the mess up there is greasy, I highly recommend Blue Magic spot remover, you can usually get that at the 'zone. Spray a towel with that stuff and blot the stain for a bit. That did the trick when those bozos at the dealer felt the need to get greasy handprints all over the headliner when I was having them work on an issue with the moonroof.

I like to use Blue Coral's interior cleaner called Dri-Clean. Spray it on and then wipe it off with a clean cloth. It works good on seats and carpeting, though I would use a scrub brush on those (but not on the headliner as Colonel said). Dri-Clean can even be used with a steam cleaner or power scrubber as I've been using it for my interior detailing for several years now.
