Anyone know where / what can be used to attach carpet to the tracks in the rear cargo space (and on the back of the rear seats)?I guess I can look for a split pin of some description, but thought I'd check in case someone else has already solved this problem

you want to fasten carpet in the tracks? Just to sorta fill that all in? I have the cargo mat to cover the floor of mine and attachments to the back of the seats to hide that which have compartments in them... might wanna check out the GM parts accessory listings for Vibe to see if anything suits your fancy.

I got a piece of grey carpet from Lowes for less than 20 bucks with rubber backing. I cut it to fit the entire back area with the seats folded down. It's fine if you leave the seats down. But when you fold the seats back up, then it flops over. So, you need a way to attach the carpet to the cargo area and back of the seats.I was thinking of using velcro, but haven't gotten around to it.

I'm assuming you're looking for some sort of rail system to attach to the carpet, and not something permanent. You've got a couple of options. One would be to cut small access holes through the carpet for the cargo tie downs to screw through. The washers should hold the carpet down well.Another option would be to purchase some c-rail or square aluminum tubing (3/16 or 1/4 inch) and glue it to the backside of the carpet so that it will fit in the rails. Not sure how that would work for the seats in an upright position, though.

Thanks for the above recommendations. Guess I could be clearer

I currently have a handcut piece of carpet in the trunk, but am wanting to use something like the matt from Lowes mentioned above for the trunk and backs of the rear seats. I'm planning on cutting it in two so that the piece on the back of the rear seats doesn't pull on the main floor mat when the seats are up.So yeah, the trick is getting it to stay there when the seats are upright. The fastners in the cargo floor mat would be obviously just what I need (or something similar) .Now I guess I need to go back to the dealer and find out where these purported cargo tie-downs are I've found reference to them in the manual, but they're looking scarce in the vehicle!Cheers

I got just what you need brotha.I swear by these puppies. They're called Scotch Reclosable Fasteners (Dual Lock). I got them at Target, Staples, can't remember, one of those two. They're the same premise as velcro, but instead of the "fibers" velcro is made from, they're plastic. They hold REAL strong, and should not be a problem for your mats. You might want to consider gluing the strips to the back of the carpet, but the adhesive on them already should grip the plastic of the seatbacks tightly on their own. They come 2 pairs to a package, I'd say for security, use 5 pairs on the 60% seatback (one in each corner plus a third one in the middle of the top part for extra hold), just 4 pairs on the 40% seatback should do it.They sell two kinds of this stuff though, make sure you get the one that's 1 inch by 3 inches. They sell stuff that's like 1/4" wide, that stuff will never be strong enough for this kind of application. The package says the adhesive is permanant, btw, but it will peel off whenever you decide you want to remove it from the seatbacks. You might need a bit of adhesive remover to get residue off, but they're very much not permanant.Any questions, lemme know.EDIT: Here's the data sheet on 3M's site too, if it helps you locate them.

Now we're talking! Tape... hadn't even thought of it! Will save me having to thread/sew wire through the bottom of the matt to keep its shape around the "ears" of the back seats!

Might consider sewing the strips on to the mat so they don't accidentally peel off the carpet backing. Or use super glue, as noted above. Either way, I think that'll work well for you. I use that dual-lock stuff for everything, it's fantastic!
