Has anyone else noticed that when drivng at high speeds with the rear window down and uncomfortably deafening sound and feeling from the wind comes into the vehicle. It's almost like the wind is vibrating into the car and becomes deafening. We like to keep one of the windows down so our dog can stick her head out, but when she puts her head back in and the entire window is exposed....the pain from the pane is excrutiating...anyone have any fixes?

open another window along with that one.

I noticed the buffeting also the first time I took one for a drive.Our Saturn wagon does the same thing, it's actually a little worse on the ears.It's not a case of being loud, just the the way the air makes my ear drums vibrate is effin' awful.As long as the A/C keeps working I'm OK. If lowering another window doesn't help, then maybe adding vent visors would decrease the buffeting a little by disrupting the airflow into the window?

its not actually the noise that bothers the ears, it's the pressure fluctuation.

This is actually from the increased air pressure coming into the vehicle without any place to go. So when there is enough pressure the air is pushed out the same window, which give the buffetting effect.Open another window slightly to allow the air to flow through the car. The larger the "cab" of the vehicle the more problem this is.

This pressure fluctuation or vibration is exactly how our ears hear things..the greater the amplitude of the vibrations the louder the sound is percieved.my truck did this my vibe has only done it a couple times... lately its been so humid I b running the A/C

Fix: If you have to crack a rear window (ex. for a dog), crack a front window as well to help equalize the pressure and stop the "vibrating sound". You won't have to crack the second window that much.This happens in nearly all 4-dr vehicles; it's a physics thing.

alright mr wizzard! my point is, the sound (as it is perceived) is not what causes the pain in the earit is the actual pressure. your ears hurt at the bottom of the pool, yet you hear nothing.of course, i could be totally wrong on everything, but eh F it!

i thought i might try having the windows down....and popping the hatch window to let the air out the back o9f the car.....just open it enough to let air escape out the back...kinda like a sliding rear window on a truck.

from my days in the VW when the rear driver's side window broke, i developed a habit of opening my driver's window and the rear passenger's side window....the wind flows in your window without buffeting into the side of your head, swirls around back (careful, i had a plastic bag back there once and it swirled up and all the way into the front seat!) and out the back passenger side window. It'll cool down your car in seconds! ...and eliminates that buffeting.

You might want to rethink opening the hatch window. On my parents old blazer if you opened the back window it would suck in the exhaust fumes.
