Seat Height?

Hi all... I've done a couple of searches and haven't been able to find anyone having this problem. My wife is signifigantly shorter than I am so we both sit at different heights when driving. I've noticed lately that even when I was the last one driving and jump into the driver's seat the next morning I have to re-adjust the height because it feels like I've dropped a level or 2. Now I'm not a small guy at 190lbs, but I assume this shouldn't be a problem. Either it's losing height or the damn garage gnomes are taking midnight drives again...Anyone else ever hear/have this problem?

I would be willing to say garage gnomes, and if you find them can you tell them that their buddies, the sock gnomes, are getting on my last nerve.

In fact, that's one of the reasons I picked the Vibe... the "higher than most small cars" comfortable seat height.... so that I don't have to stoop, crouch, clunk my head, swear, duck, and inhumanely contort to get into the vehicle. (oops, another tangent for potential hijacking...)

There should be a knob on the left side of the seat for tilting the base of the seat (not the back) forward or backward.

I'm surprised that if your wife is significantly shorter than you, that the seat height would be lower. My wife and I had the opposite problem; I like the seat low so the seat angle was better on my legs. My wife, OTOH, likes to be able to see the road and jacks the seat all the way up.Guess your wife likes pimpin' in the Vibe...

I wish I could make the seat sit LOWER in the car!! Thinking about fabricating some new mounts so the seat position is lower than the lowest setting built into the seat.

I have experienced this problem on my 2005 Vibe. I drive about 100 miles every day and I usually have to adjust the seat height up once or twice per week. Sometimes I can actually feel the seat dropping slowly, but usually I don't notice it until I look down at the tach & speedometer and see that I am looking at them from a different perspective.I discussed this with my dealership before the 36k warranty expiration. They wouldn't do anything about it because they couldn't duplicate the problem. They did say that if the problem gets worse that GM would likely cover the repair costs since I documented the issue before the warranty expiration. It's only a minor annoyance right now, so I am not going to push them to do anything right away.I was considering setting up a test where I set a weight on the seat overnight and measured the seat height before & after. Perhaps this would give the dealership enough proof to fix the problem and turn it in for warranty reimbursement. I don't think the dealer mechanics around here are smart enough to diagnose the problem this way.Sean

On my brother's 2005, it's some kind of pump action lever. nobody gets both
