I was wondering if anyone knows a company who sells pillar replacements for the Vibe? I havn't been able to get up with freestyle b/c he's the only one I know who has them...I've seen some on eBay but they vanish when I'm ready to get them. So if anyone has any info, it would be greatly appriciated

If I remember correctly, there are no pre-made pillar gauge pods for the Vibe/Matrix. Freestyle custom moulded his using a set of pods for a Mustang as the base.

Does anyone think that a corolla gauge pillar would work? I went a head and got the highest bid on it. If it doesn't work, I have a jigsaw that will MAKE it work :
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...=WDVWPS: whats the difference between a mech. gauge and an electric gauge?

I think you would need the electric gauge for the Vibe.

I might be pulling this out of my (removed), but from watching Trucks! i think i remember that the mech. gauge is for the old old ones and they use this thick cable and some have oil in it or something. the electric ones are for the "newer" cars and i would suggest the electical ones for your vibe, all the readings are done by computer now.

Yea, all the gauges I found are Electric, but the oil pressure gauge says it's mechanical and electric. BTW the gauges I'm getting are from Megan

Check out my Super Summer Garage Sale. I am selling oil pressure and the voltage gauges here:
http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=17706If I knew about it earlier I would have held the A-Pillar Gauge Pod for you as well. Someone else has bought it. If that sale falls thru I will let you know.

The difference between electric and mechanical guages depends on the guage.Take oil pressure for example:Mechanical: Run a t-tap off your oil line and have the oil physically go to the back of the guage. It then uses a mechanical means of determining the pressure.Electrical: There's a 'sender' that goes on the oil line in the engine, you then run a wire from the sender to the guage and it gives you the pressure reading.Electrical is usually easier because you don't need to run an oil line through the firewall. However, it's been debated that Mechanical guages are better as there's no delay with the sender, and they're generally more accurate. You don't NEED electrical over mechanical unless you want it.

oh well, I guess I'll have to fabricate it, if I win it. Edit: I retracted my bid, thanks for the info Rangingfish, I would have wasted my money had it not been for you.

Auctions are tempting, and obviously, are time sensitive. In the future, however, you should either get all your answers before bidding, or if you do bid, and realize you can't use it, hope to be outbid, or resell the item. Bid retractions look bad on your ebay record, and many sellers will automatically cancel the bids of users who have a history of retractions.

I think it's been said that the universal Guage pods at Pep-boys will work with a little bit of 'working them to fit'.That's probably what i'll try when it comes time.

Yea, from now on I will get everything I need to know about something before I bid, That was my first bid retraction and it actually was a mistake entering the price. I meant to bid 31.02 but made it 41.02. So it was sort of legit, but I was going to let it fly until you told me that

How do I take off the pilar on my vibe?I will ask the stupid question!!

they are held on by snap/clips and it just pops off, i think you can just use a flat head screw driver (long one) to reach in and pop them out.Actually, did we find any where that sold A-pillar with pods? With the cai and future SC i was thinking of getting it.
