Had my Vibe for a few weeks now and while checking it out today I noticed a deep chip (to the metal) in the middle of the hood about 1" from the front edge. I also seem to have alot of chipping along the driver side trim just below the door edge... oh, and the front nose is a bug magnet... wow!Well off I go to get some touch up paint.

I had the car about a week before I got a big chip in the very front by the license plate. Got a bra, and haven't noticed any damage since, when I take it off. Plus the bugs are a lot easier to clean off.

I have tremendous chipping on my driver's rocker panel (the strip at the bottom of the door frame) and so does another 05 owner I know. It's also chipping a bit on the passenger side. (I'm sure it'd be worse but I rarely have passengers)It seems the paint problems have gotten worse as opposed to better. We're both going to talk to the dealer about it next time we're in for service. I mean, it's not like I drive wearing ski boots or cleats or something like that.....

I realize the chips on the hood are "normal" and/or unavoidable because road debris is going to hit it eventually, but the paint chipping along the door sill concerns me more. It's not where my feet rub getting in and out... it's further back about parallel with the door handle. Anyone else experiencing this problem?05 BaseFrosty

Yeah The dealer is definitely going to hear about this next time I'm in too.... or I could just strip it all off and make it look like modded black rockers!

You might be on to something there... but no similar damage anywhere else though... hmmmm... I think I only went through one automatic wash with brushes... the others were "touchless". So I'm still going to blame the dealer and tell them to FIX IT!

I went grocery shopping the other day and came out to 2 shopping baskets side by side bumped up against my driver's side door.. two chips now in the mid-door trim. Needless to say, I was NOT impressed. I've never understood the lack of respect people have, idiots ! I've got to pick up some Neptune touchup paint on my day off.

They probably own Saturns, and figure that everyone else's doors are as 'flexible' as theirs..Or they own POS cars and think that nobody cares..

I have seen this type of chipping on cars where the seat belt gets caught in the door.

Hmm, my seat belt has been shut in the door I don't know how many times since it doesn't want to retract on certain occasions and I don't notice it... Until *clink!* and the door doesn't shut properly. No damage to date on the door jamb's paint, surprisingly. Oh well, the most durable part of the finish can only be seen when the doors are open. (removed)

My seatbelt is off and retracted fully before I open the door. My dad's meticulous about his cars and has the same problem too. It's also happening on the sill of the rear passenger where the kid's carseat it - and there's no belt that's getting unbuckled and loose there.

Well that takes care of one possibility. The mystery lives on.
