Hello,I have a 2003 vibe GT and have been putting only supreme gas in it since the owners manual says to. With gas prices where they are I am wondering if I could switch to regular. If I do how much (if any) damage will i be doing to the GT engine. Thanks for any advice,Rob Sullivan

Hey Rob, if you search here you will find lots of post regarding this topic. In the end it is stated use Premium only in a GT. A different way around it is if you can get bottled Octane Booster and than use Regular 87 cheaper then the cost of just using Premium itself. Interestingly enough, my PT calls for Premium however you can run Regular in the engine without damage. It has enough knock sensors to accomidate however you do lose a degree of preformance. I have used 87 since just about when it was new. The owners manual states this too. If you are going on a trip and just need to top off I say put 89 in it. It will mix with the 91 or 93 in the tank you already have and you will be fine. I just did that in my Vette going to Ohio the other day and no problems.

Quoting the manual and post by Psychobroker:"If your vehicle has the 1.8L H.O. DOHC engine (GT), use only premium unleaded gasoline with a posted octane of 91 or higher. In an emergency, you may be able to use a lower octane -- as low as 87 -- if heavy knocking does not occur. Refill your tank with premium fuel as soon as possible. Otherwise, you might damage your engine."

I don't believe octane boost, actually boosts the octane that much.

http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=8548i don't know, but from what i hear from all the subie guys w/ performance parts, it seems like it's a must! especially up here where the premium gas is only 90! so after my 2 yrs no mod period is over, then i'd like to do a few things myself, but more than likely will only bring the LGT to stage 2, chip and full turbo back exhaust.... but that will have to wait awhile.
