What can you do with a lease... and get away with?

As you can tell by the title of the post, I am leasing my Vibe and I'm just curious as to what I can do to the car and not break the lease agreement. I'm sure there are a few other people out there leasing their Vibes as well, if so, are they doing any kind of mods at all? My guess is that anything I do to the car, granted I change it back, will still be ok?

Anything you want as long as it does not detract from the value of the car. Wheels are pretty much the only thing you can get away with externally and not get penalized for it. As far as any other external mods, just keep the original part and put 'em back on when it is time to turn in! Interior/engine stuff no one will ever know about, unless it is visible!

Pissedoffgokart is exactly right! If you are going to do your service at the dealership, you may want to replace back to oem intake before you go to have warranty work done.

GMAC's idea of excess wear at lease end (
http://www.gmacfs.com click on "excess wear square" from left menu). "Any modification, including but not limited to suspension modifications, changing vehicle color or factory paint schemes, lettering or graphics, holes in froame, post-delivery customizing, engine adaptations, fuel system adaptations, tinted or engraved glass." That being said, someone still has to catch it, and since in many places GMAC (so probably other lease companies) use professional appraisers to inspect the cars at lease end, they very well could. Also keep in mind if you leave whatever on the car you spent all the money for just a short time. If you intend to change back, that could also effect things if not done properly. And if you should loose the car in an accident, you may not get time to remove your whatever. Its your car (life) do what makes you happy.

If you lease another vehicle from them you can get away with a lot. I took back a 1994 Cavalier which was full of cigerette burns and scratches (ex wife was driving it) and leased a 1996 Z24 for myself.Make sure you get the dealership to sign off on taking the old one first!

I was just wondering and thanx for all the input. I am doing a few things here and there to my Vibe, but only things that I can change back without damage to the car. Thanks again!
