Hello fellow Vibe owners/lovers. I bought my Vibe GT on April 12th and it was the fist one sold in the Virginia Beach/Norfolk VA area. I love the car and couldn't wait for the GT's to arrive. I had to have one. I was going to order one but my dealer told me it would take months and so I bought off the lot. The only thing I did'nt like was that I wanted blue and got black (my second choice) Here are a few thoughts, I know Im going to get flamed for this but here it goes. What is up with the name VIBE. I think it is a dumb name, I was really hoping Pontiac would change it once the car went into production. I love Pontiacs, and have owned many (Still own some) over the last 20 years, but the first thing I did was remove the VIBE GT off the car. Does anyone else hate the name. Let me know. Also, why cant you get the factory moonroof with the 17" rims. This is crap, I wanted the 17" rims AND the moonroof but was told that it is not an option. Can anyone tell me WHY.... Here is another one. Why the hell do the Matrix owners bash us on the Matrix/Vibe forum (matrixowners.com) The cars are so close in design and share everything under the skin but they still bash us and say they are better. I don't get it. Now that I have seen pics of the monotone option I am PISSED. I didn't even know it was going to be an option, I would have waited to get it if I had known. I really don't like the lower panel in gray, it looks to much like the AZTECK lower body and I don't want my Vibe confused with a Azteck. Those are my pet-peeves, now for the good, I really love the car, that little GT motor can sing at 9000 rpm. I love the sound it makes when the second cam kicks in at 6600rpm, it flat out pushes you back into the seat when it kicks in. I also removed the restrictive lower airbox tube and cut most of the lower air box out, to aid air intake, it flatout howls now. It is a blast. Well, I hope to talk with more of you in the future and add my comments when needed, thanks for being here to talk to about my new love interest. Rob

First off use the serach option for why you can't have the moon with the 17s. It's been talked about all ready.Oh just so you know the engine kicks in at 6000 RPMs not 6600. Also your reving your engine to 9000RPMs??? That is insane. Your engines peak HP is made at 7600. I wouldn't rev it over 8100 to 8200 RPMS. Reving it any higher your HP and torque are falling way off and you can blow the engine runing it in that RPM.It's your car and you can drive how you like but good luck keeping the engine together. Something is gonna go. Probably a head gasket or possably spin a main bearing. That's a very bad thing.

Actually found the rev limiter kicked in around 81-8200 RPM. It would be nice to be able to push a little beyond that to make sure I don't drop out of the power band during races...

I see by your sig that you don't have a Vibe yet, well I have one, so all you can do is talk to me about what you have read, Give me a brake, "it kicks in at 6000", when I am driving the crap out of my vibe and I feel the kick, i look down and its getting up to 7K, sorry I was off by a few hundred RPM. Next time i'll stare at the dash and not the road so that I can get the exact F'ing rpm for ya. And when I say "9000" rpm sorry again for streaching the truth, yea my F'ing car has the same rev limiter that they all have, it stops making any power around 8200 or so, but the F'ing little needle is almost at 9000, and when you are going 80+ mph on a road that has a speed limit of 45, you dont have time to worry about the little needle not being at 9000 or at 8200. Sorry for not being exact with my post, it was written with passion so it was not to be taken as F'ing science. Get a Vibe so we can talk about how cool it is to drive them. You emailed me about this forum and I came here to check it out and post some stuff and you hit me back with "First off use he search opton..." Then you go on to correct me on the facts of my car and tell me how to drive it. How about starting your post like this. "welcome to the forum, nice ride, hey great idea about the air box, how much of the air box did you cut, was relocating the battery difficult, ect... Not one positive word in your reply, were you pissed because I don't like the name "VIBE", if so, chill out. Anyway I was hoping that this forum would be better than the matrixowners.com one but I am wrong. Oh I like your post on the MatrixVibe.net forum its the same as the one I started on the matrixowners one. I guess my ideas are ok to copy when you agree with them. Oh well. Im out of here.[Modified by QWIKGTA, 6:32 AM 6/16/2002]

Wow man, my reply was never to (removed) anyone off and I'm sorry I came of that way. When I replied I want to make sure everyone knows the truth. I don't want some other member to go out and rev their engine to 9000 grand and when it blows, go well I heard it's capable of doing this because I read it on genvibe. I wasn't meaning to upset you and apologize if I did. Everyone is intitled to their opinion as are you. I'm sorry I came off that way.Last thing if you cut your air box and are sucking in the very hood under hood temps into yout intake your really not helping anything. Get a CAI or make your own which I have posted on. You'll feel a big difference. Also the search feature is here so we don't have a 100 posts on the same topic. I'm not sure why informing you of this would upset you but I am sorry I came off that way.

Reguarding the name "Vibe" my friends always tease me when I say I am getting a vibe. They always call it "Brator" hence my name. They think its funny to say Vibe(Brator)....haha. Yeah the names not the hottest but the car speaks for itself who cares what the name is as long as you like it

I don't own a Vibe (still shopping), but I have to disagree with the opinions on the name. A "Vibe" is a feeling, an emotion, something that you can't quite put your finger on, but something that you feel in your gut. "Vibes" are usually good, but can sometimes be bad. They speak more to intuition and a sixth-sense than concrete, hard and fast, easily defined emotions. They are "feelings" and "hunches" that usually turn out to be spot on. I think Pontiac chose an excellent name for a vehicle that's not easy to classify, that instantly brings forth a feeling as soon as you see it (either you love them or you hate them),and inspires good feeling in its owners. Just my 20 cents. Edited to add: Interestingly enough, hubby wants this model more than I do, but I like the name better than he does. Maybe it's an age thing? (Hubby's 8 years older than I am)

hey, 1st off welcome second i did about the same to the air box, but i just removed the bottom half and tie rapped the filter on the top half of the air box, this sounds great when hitting higher rpm,s.another thing i recomend doing to the shifter, because it is so long shifter i removed the factory shift knob and added a momo shifter knob and then cut about 3" off the shifter it self this works great shorter shifts and smother shifts and better nsync with the clutch.just thought i'd say hi and post so ideas
