Just wondered if anyone happen to get the cross rails on their roof rack from the factory?I "think" the cross rails are a option because my car didn't have them and the dealer said it was a accessory, But I have seen them on some other vibes that the driver had no idea why they are on the car (they didn't ask for them)I need two roof racks...anyone want to sell me theirs?

I have been considering selling mine since I know I will never use them. But eventually when I sell the car or trade it in, it would be nice to have them with it.

i have an '04 with the x-bars included and while i actually use my roof rack (just brought home a 14ft handrail this month), the 'native' cross bars are too close to the roof of the car. i've scratched the paint under them trying to get bungies around them.i would recomment aftermarket crossbars. they will latch on top of the rack frame and will rise higher above the roof, making fastening the cargo easier.one could argue that the native bars are stronger than aftermarket ones because they are tracked into the frame. bear in mind that your roofrack is only rated for 75lbs i will be getting aftermarket bars anyway because i just had a webasto panoramic sunroof put it and i definitely want a respectful distance between the cross bars and that 4.5 sq.ft. of glass

I had asked the same question awhile back about x-bars for the 05. Seems like a no-brainer to add them in the package, but after reading the forum posts and seeing tons on Vibes on the road while I was on vacation last week, it seems that buying from Thule or Yakima is the best option.I just spent a week in Martha's Vineyard and Cape Cod and was amazed at the number of Vibes on the road. Of all the Vibes on the road, it seemed as though the rack of choice was Thule, at least for kayaks and bikes. I didn't see any luggage baskets. I will probably purchase Thule racks for two kayaks and bikes. We are a family of 5 and while I did all the driving, my wife and three teenage daughters took turns rotating from the back seat to the front passenger seat. Our only problem was the return trip home because of all the extra stuff we bought on the trip and had to pack it all the best we could. This included two huge horseshoe crab shells, which made the trip without being cracked or broken. The Vibe was a dream to drive on the trip. Drove straight through to and from Massachusetts (about 19 hours each way) and while I was tired, the Vibe made it extremely enjoyable. Now it's back to work... ugh!

The Yakima Lowrider towers actually fit better than the Thule towers of similar design. I though that the Thule didn't seem mounted as securely as the Yakima.I get Thule for dead cost and paid retail for the Yakima towers and crossbars...
