I have an Abyss monotone vibe on the way, delivery around January or Febuary. I would like to be able to put a coat of wax on it but it is damn cold here. I was wondering if there is a wax out there that can be applied in the cold or if the vibe comes with a half decent coating of wax already. Also do you think the dealer will throw in a free wax before delivering it to me if asked?

try to get it free from your dealer. Otherwise, he will offer you to pay for it (most of dealer have esthetic dept.). You can also do it your self in an heated garage.

My Dealer waxed my Vibe before delivery without being asked, so I sort of figured it was standard operating procedure. Certainly would not hurt to ask.

Another choice is to find a heated parking garage. Drop in first thing in the morning, shop or go to a movie while your wheels warm up, then set to! (there's one in my town with a 12 screen theater and freeee parking...)

If wosre came to worse, you could use an extension cord and hair dryer or an indoor heater. Just do one section at a time Do they have a car wash in your town and do they work in the winter. If so, you could go there.

Your Vibe should be fine for a few months of winter. The dealer usually details the vehicles before they sell them. So, you should be cool until spring.

I have to agree with silverard26, with the newer paints and waxes, you can pretty much wax your car anytime after delivery. As for waxing in the winter you need 50 degrees for the wax to set up. There are some newer spray on detailing waxes that you may get away with down to 40 degrees but the best advice I read on this post was to find a heated garage....

Or you can also take it through the car wash (not that I am crazy about it, which I mentioned alsewhere), but I found "the works" package (or whatever is a buzz word in the gas station near you) to provide some protection between washes that actually makes a difference.

I think you mean Zymol. I haven't used the wax yet, but their car wash soap is the best I have ever used. And yes, rather expensive.
