I have been taking my vehicle to the dealer for std. oil changes, but want to do the next one myself. other than changing the oil, what other maintenace does the dealer typically do, or would be required on the vehicle. is there any fittings to lube underneath?thanks

There are no grease fittings that I am aware of. Just change the oil and filter and you're good to go.

The maintenance tasks to do in addition to oil/filter change depend on the mileage on the car, and how you drive it, and also to some extent what kind of car you have. as a minimum, you should check all fluid levels, look for belt wear, check the air filter. Be sure to check the oil level in between oil changes regardless of who does the oil change. Keep an eye on tire pressure. There are no suspension/steering lube points on a Vibe/Matrix, they are all sealed.

thanks,it a Vibe automatic trans, and around 18,000 miles. Other than looking at wear in the engine compartment, I should be fine with just the oil change then, and maybe an air filter. Wasn't sure if there were lube points.

Keep a record of your oil change you do on your own, such as the invoice for the oil and filter you bought, the mileage and the month/day you did it JUST in case you need some warranty work down the road and need to prove the vehicle has been serviced.

the manual does have Lubricate the parking brake cable guides, underbody contact points and linkage at 6,000 miles.
