I came home from the Supermeet with a renewed vigor to drop my Vibe. I went to have my oil changed at Car-X and asked them how much it would be to have prebought springs put on my car. He quoted me right at $400 dollars.Holy #@$&!!!!I am gonna have to do some more calling to make sure I wasn't "gettin' hoed."

Yeah, I was quoted $75 per spring and $75 for an alignment. So, I decided to save $300 and do it myself. I just had to pay for the alignment. If you are confortable with working on your car. I would say do it yourself. Here are some links to see if you would want to do it yourself:I put Hotchkis Springs on my AWD Vibe about a month ago. Here is the thread:

I definitely don't want to do it myself. I was completely amazed that my Father and I put my intake on and my car didn't explode. I wouldn't even want to attempt a spring install!!!Don't worry Kari, at that price I am going to have to do a lot more thinking before I decide to spend that kind of money. I won't leave you just yet.

Yeah that's why I don't install anything on my car...I know I would blow it up. So I let others try to blow it up for me. Stock height is where it's at yo!

Dude, Murray's auto parts store does spring swaps for FREE. It says that in their stores. So, you may want to check them out. If you have the extra springs, and struts are already off the car, they will swap them for you.Inder

But I will need to be able to drive my car to get to the shop. And actually I just called Tires Plus not to long ago and they said that if I ordered them online, they would install them for $200. That is more of the price that I was looking for. Now I have to decide if I want Eibach Pro's or Hotchkis.

That initial shock of the $400 dollar bill was a real buzzkill, let me tell you. But with a little perseverance and a telephone book I got a place for half that. If anybody has any opinions on which springs to get, feel free to chime in I am all ears. Right now I am looking at both Eibach Pros or the Hotchkis. Progress and Teins are just too much of a drop for the road conditions here. And TRD's are almost double the price of the other two. I pretty much just want a moderate drop (1.5 inches - 2.0 inches) but still have a decent ride quality.

Try the Tein H (high) techs. Those aren't as of a harsh drop. But it will still be leveled out.Inder

you should totally do it yourself, its waay easy, just set a day aside to do the project. go rent a spring compressor from a car parts store, then get to it, i put the s-techs in all by myself. And because of it, my understanding of our suspension is much much better BEST OF ALL, the total installation of the springs costed me $123 (just money spent on springs, since you get your money back when you return the spring compressor, TAX and All )

Like I said before, I am not to comfortable doing major things on my car. I usually leave things like this to professionals. I would rather spend a little extra money to make sure it gets done right than save a little and have that constant fear of the thing falling apart.I am just about ready to order some Hotchkis springs off of horsepowerfreaks.com for $178 shipped. So with a little luck, by the middle of July they should be on and I will be whipping in and out of the nonexistent Iowa City traffic like I was on rails.
