Either open a photobucket account or save them to the comp and post them individually as attachments. It's a lot easier if you use photobucket and it's free!

Genvibe does allow you to upload pictures, one per post. See this threadThere have been some times when a member sells their car, moves on, and ends up replacing their vibe pics with others, so if they have them linked in genvibe posts, all w get to see are broken link icons. I prefer to upload themn to genvibe, that way they are part of the thread, and will be there as long as the thread/post that references them is there.

so how does the insert image button work?I want to post pics without using an external host and without doing it as attachments. Eventually, I will incorporate a cool pic into my signature.

I am not sure if I understand what you want to do, and I don;'t know your level of internet expertise, so forgive me if this is off target. You can not have the image appear in a post on this forum unless the image is accessible to the general public via the internet. You can make a picture available on the internet by uploading it to a web server that is on the internet. This can be a place like photobucket, imageshack, or some other server out there on the internet. It could be your own system, if your own system is running a web server and has a registered hostname or static IP address. You likely have a picture on your PC, and you want to share it with internet users. Internet users can't see the files on your PC, that is a good thing, so you have to get the picture someplace where internet users can see it. So you have to upload it to the internet somewhere. No way around it, that's the nature of the beast. My consistent recommendation is to upload the picture as an attachment to a post. Then it's on the internet, and available to us here at genvibe even if you move on years from now. A good example of why I prefer to have images uploaded to threads is the "how to change your clutch" thead, http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=21943 Great thread, important pictures, but the poster is gone somewhere, and the place where the pictures were isn't there anymore, so all we have left are the words. You can upload the picture to any of your posts, and then include it in any other of your posts. You can even go back to one of your old posts somewhere and edit that post to upload the attachment, then include that picture in a different thread. Here's a picture I uploaded to genvibe somewhere else long ago, in a thread far far away.Interesting to note the url of that image ends in /2460/gvd4.gif, indicating it was the 2460th attachment uploaded to genvibe. by comparison, the pic I uploaded yesterday was it's url has /13931/200K.jpg, which means it was over ten thousand attachments after the dog one. So upload to genvibe, everyone is doing it

thanks guys, that helps me a lot. I just wasn't used to the format of this forum compared to another one I visit frequently.
