Ok I will sound like a total noob but My Sony radio is XM ready. What would I need to buy for it to get the XM service? It is on its way to Canada but I heard that if I have a US address I can receive it here in Montreal. So I want to test it out first to see if I will like it.So basically what do I need? A XM tuner, car kit etc??Thanks everyone and try not to laugh too much

You can get this tuner and this adapter and be done. It will hook right up to your XM ready Sony and be controled from the head unit.

What model Sony do you have? The XM Direct unit only works with specific models.

From Terk's site: The Sony head unit model numbers listed below may or may not work depending on date of MFG. Sometime during 2003, SONY changed the interface on these units. Units with the new interface will work with the XMDSON100. The actual dates of change are not know.CDX-CA710XCDX-CA810XCDX-MP40XR-CA350XXR-CA650X

If it doesn't work, yup. If you go to Terk.com and go to XM Direct recievers, it gives a full list of currently compatible models. The problem with yours is that it's a tossup if it'll work or not. So, it may work right away..
