Just saw on the nighttime news that the CRTC has officially granted 3 licenses to transmit Sat radio to Canadian subscribers! The 3 licensee's are Sirius Canada, XM Canada, and CHUM Radio Group. CRTC's only provisions are that the services must begin carrying at least 8 Canadian stations, and those stations must conform to the CanCon regulations. No word was given as to what we should expect for Canadian pricing. So looks like we here in Canada can look forward to legally getting Sat radio by sometime this fall! Woo Hoo

I'm wondering what the capability is of being able to serve two entirely different services off of the same satellites without having a major bandwidth decrease due to having twice the number of channels on the same equipment. Seems like it would be easier if they just made both services the same, and maybe just operated the Canadian branch under the Sirius Canada or XM Canada banner. Then again, I know almost nothing of this so I could be completely wrong...I just hope I'm not.
