Hi everyone -She's at home in my driveway! Vibe Base Salsa with Moon and Tunes and Power Packages (sunroof, cruise, etc) and XM radio (which rocks!). Final price was $16,800 - pretty good deal I think.The only problem is that I'm not sure how to deal with the back as far as cargo. I put some bags there from the grocery store today and they just slid all around the plastic. How do you secure things? Is there some sort of cargo net/bins that are made for the Vibe. i use the GM cargo nets for groceries. i'm not sure i've had anything else back there that was in danger of sliding/spilling yet. there should also be some tie down anchors in a baggy under deck of the cargo area (in that tray above the spare tire) for larger stuff that you want to secure to the floor.

I've never even looked in there, I'll have to take a peek...We bought the mat and nets and have been very happy with them.

I have a thin dog leash that I hooked through the rings on the side, and use to secure items with handles. I frequently haul 7 gallon water jugs and this is an easy way to secure it from sliding or tipping.

I attached a few bungee cords in an X pattern attaching to the side hooks.

So, help me out here. The rear trunk cargo area carpet is NOT included with the Vibe ... but regular floor mats (front and back floor) are standard?Also, which do you folks think is the better choice? The storage bin or simply the nets?Did anyone opt for the splash guards? Looks like it would be $50 for all four. Are the "custom fitted" Pontiac ones the best choice over ones from the auto parts store?I'm seriously considering taking the plunge this week and joining the Vibe Generation. I thank you for your help and I hope my questions weren't silly.

I would go with the nets. They are easy to move if you have the urgent need for large items (those that just fit in the opening). Also, I would encourage the splash guards. I put mine on about two weeks after getting the car. I was throwing alot of mud when turning on dirt roads.

You can find them on eBay if you don't want to go through a dealer.Also, consider getting a cargo liner like this:http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...16650I actually bought one from a fellow GenVibe member and it's one of the best investments I think I've made. It is rubberlike, so it holds grocery bags well. And it's got a "lip" around the edge just in case anything spills.

I bought the cargo mat, no net or cargo box. My dad tried a home made carpet mat for his vibe, but it would slide around too much, so he order a mat also. It has an anti slide backing material to keep it in place. I remove the mat whenever i'm hauling stuff, though. It doesn't fit quite right in our second vibe because of the subwoofer, which my first vibe didn't have.

I got the cargo mat for free from my dealer and bought the Matrix cargo nets off of Ebay (cheaper than getting them from my Pontiac dealer).

I do haul quite a bit of stuff in my Vibe. There are always projects around the house and to avoid stuff rolling around and breaking anything, those tie-downs are such a help.

First of all, welcome to GenVibe! You will find this site most helpful.I say Yes definitely get the cargo mat. It will prevent your stuff from flying around and making all sorts of annoying noises. I got mine from eBay, $30 shipped. It was one made from carpet material that had ridges to avoid things from moving around so much. Also I got the Matrix cargo nets $25 shipped from eBay as well. It came with the bigger one that goes across the back of the trunk and a smaller one that attaches to the side.You might also want to get the bumper protector so it doesn't mess up your bumper's surface paint. I got the one for the Matrix off of eBay for $30 shipped and it's a lot better than the one made for the Vibe because it has a lip that overhangs the bumper providing more protection.eBay is a great place to look for stuff because they are a lot cheaper than getting them from the dealerships.Hope this helps!

I keep a bungee cord that runs from one side of the car to the other using the upper tie down hooks for the cargo cover. Undo one side, slide it through the bag handles, reattach, and that keeps the plastic bags from sliding everywhere. People are using their tiedowns that come with the car, but those are intended to keep your flat tire from flying around if you get a flat (check out the owners manual). Keep that in mind if you choose to use those.Another tip - if you get a cargo mat, or an old rug like I did, and stick it in the cargo area, it greatly reduces road noise.
