Oh, it never ends!

Yet another nagging thing popped up yet again... The damn driver's side window clicking as the glass travels up or down to approximately the halfway point. That sucks. It's done this off and on for a while, and came back tonight. And what is definitely a safety issue - the driver's seat will not latch properly. It's been rocking back and forth when you take off, stop, or whatever. Doesn't move far, but the fact that it's moving at all bothers me. The passenger's seat doesn't do it. I've tried the seat in different positions, even slamming the damn thing back and forth as hard as I could, but nothing changed. Anyone else have the seat issue? What else is going to break on this damn thing? Pathetic.

I had the same problem with my drivers seat and the dealer replaced the seat adjusters.

You have had really no luck with your car I have had the window issue which the dealer fixed, but never the seat issue colonel. Good luck, please keep us posted.

So when you get rid of the Vibe, are you going to trade it in, or are you going to roll it off a cliff to get even with it.I vote for the latter........on video tape.

I had the same problem with my seat, of course trying to convince the dealer was the hard part. First noticed it at about 5K miles, by 15K it was so loose even the dealer couldn't pretend it was OK. They replaced the seat rails.

Yeah, I brought it up to them, but they said they wouldn't touch this thing with a 10 ft. pole... It's hopeless...But I hate to disappoint you guys, this car isn't going out with a bang... It's just going to be traded in, I'll let some other poor soul deal with it. They'll probably have better luck.

Don't know if this will help or not, but what the heck.I used to have a 96 VW Jetta GLX that had seats that would move a bit in their tracks. VW used cheap plastic locator tabs in the seat tracks that would wear out over a short period of time. I was never able to make it more than 6 months on a set before I'd feel the seat moving in its tracks again. The only thing that I ever did to the seats was sit in them daily, and move the seats all the way forward and all the way back once a week to make room when I'd vaccum the carpet. Even though I'd feel the seat start moving at about the 6 month mark, I'd usually wait until 9-12 months before replacing them. In the 4 years I had the car, I figure I spent about $300 on plastic seat track locators.

The window hasn't really been popping so I've put that on the back burner. But for the seat thing, I made an attempt at getting that addressed today, but as always, CP crashes and burns! Here's what their official diagnosis is, NOT edited for spelling!Quote »CUST. STATES DRIVERS SEAT POPPS AND MOVES WHEN TURNING OR COMMING TO A STOP.NO PROBLEMS TO BE FIXED. FUNCTIONING AS DESIGNED.Alrighty, GenVibers! That's the official word! Your Vibe's seats will rock, "popp," and snap when sitting in them and the car (or you!) moves. That's just how they're designed! Funny, yours truly has been sitting in another Vibe's front seat for, oh, 20 hours over the last few days and it doesn't seem to be doing the same thing. I guess the seat that doesn't exhibit the same issues as my "functioning as designed" seat is broken and is in need of repairs! So everyone, before it's too late and your safety is compromised, PLEASE have your Vibe sent in for service IMMEDIATELY IF THE SEAT DOES NOT MOVE ON ITS OWN!!!! They ain't working properly and you can be hurt really, really bad! Geez, I guess I have MORON tattooed on my forehead or something...

That is INSANE!!! How could they tell you that load of crap with a straight face. I would go to every dealership in the state to get that fixed. That isn't safe at all. But you can always look on the bright side, if you get into an accident and the seat fails and you are injured you can sue GM and get a buttload of money. From the movie "Office Space" "Your dreams can come true, look at me!!"Said by a man in a body cast after a car accident. But good luck in getting that fixed because that is definitely a serious problem.

when i had mine serviced to fix the window click, they said that since it was just a loose screw and no failure, warantee didn't cover the repair.so i guess routine maintenance is to have to disassemble the door and tighten screws.so, the door wasn't the only thing they screwed that day.

Seeing how some of these windows have like, um, shattered, I would think that the window popping would be a legitimate safety concern... Then again, look at the line of bull**** that this dealer gave me about my seat... They don't care about no steenkin' safety! Which is odd, like I've said before, how much more money could I bring GM if I'm friggin' DEAD and can no longer buy their crap? Same deal with my steering, they'd rather just send me down the road than fix something that could potentially be dangerous. Rant over.

I think you need to rent a truck and a car dolly, load the vibe up, and go on a road trip. Stop at every pontiac dealer on the trip until you find some dealer that has their head extracted from their @$$. Or at least has a bubblectomy. I know there has to be some decent dealerships some where. What I can't understand is why they won't even try to fix it. If it's under warranty they're losing money by not fixing it. I don't think pontiac requires them to send back the defective part, because that would be a waste of money and I know my dealership hasn't sent back stuff they replaced on mine.

there is a fix for the window popping yes the door stop strap bolts come loose but the problem starts when the door gets over extended and bends the door stop strap there is a new strap available from gm to fix this problem it will be coverd under factory warranty. if your out of warranty i think it costs $75 you might also check the door frame where the strap goes into the door it gets bent there.

I can't figure out why it is doing it, just wondering if anyone else has had this problem and if so, got it fixed or looked at and what was causing it. It doesn't make any noise as it moves up or down as colonel's, but when it shuts fully at the top it makes a loud clicking sound, almost like if the glass was chipping but it's not.

The click I get with my driver's side window sometimes did sound exactly as you described. Yep, the sound makes you swear up and down that a big chunk of glass goes bye-bye when it happens. When mine does it, it's around the halfway point - but I would assume that whatever the problem is that we're having with these windows could present itself at any given point of where the window travels. The passenger side front window now pops every time it is rolled down, so I'm quite pleased about that. It sucks that I have to be happy that the window is finally on its way to being broken, but this is still a positive thing since it's no longer intermittent and should be quite easy to demonstrate to the dealer. The driver's side, ugh - I'll have to fight to get that one fixed, I imagine. Which really isn't good, since that window gets a lot of use!I'd say go talk to the dealer and reference the TSB noted in this post (thanks tnpartsguy!) It may or may not apply to you. When I go in on Monday, I'll run this by the dealer as well and wait for the outcome...

Nothing has fallen off, nor has anything become broken since the exhaust tip was installed. It must have given my Vibe a slight amount of positive "vibes."* Can't beat that, plus the dyno says that thing's good for 50 HP, so I win! *My Vibe still reserves the right to have any given component fail at any given moment without prior notice.

So, maybe if you put a sticker of a gas can on your Vibe, the mileage will increase?I would also consider adding some racing stripes.Everyone knows they make the car faster. Then again, it might work only for Neons, and Civics.

Have you resolved the seat or window issue yet? Vibes (actually all GM products of late) have MAJOR windowregulator problems and will cause the conditions you are describing. and the seat issue is is most likely the seat track. do u have power seats? hope this helps!
