The console storage thingy opening on its own, we know all about that... Had the same problem myself, which was fixed with some electrical tape on the underside of the storage bin. But the problem I'm having, any time I hit a big bump, the damn compartment to the left of the wheel flies open. At first I thought it was due to a large amount of heavy crap in there (coins, etc.) but after removing all that junk, it still opens. And it really doesn't feel like it's latching securely anyway.What to do? I figure I'll try the electrical tape underneath this one, but not sure if that will help....

i never can keep those two closed either really annoying.

I've had problems with this compartment too. Once in a while I wouldn't be able to shut it. I reached in with my fingers once and felt something behind that was in the way (it may have been a wire harness of some sort). Anyway, after pushing it away, the compartment closed fine. It still happens occasionally, but I just haven't had a chance to take out the bin and tape up whatever it is that is back there.

I had a problem with my switches interfering with something... I so can't remember what the latch mechanism looks like, but it's probably something that can be bent back into shape..

having just drilled there, let me offer some help take the upper dash bezel off (the one with the mirror switches etc) and you can reach down and remove the metal thing that 'holds' the door shut. you can easily bend it farther down to provide more resistence to opening.would take a pic for ya, but the wife had the camera.its easy though.

You don't even need to remove the trim panel with the mirror controls.Just yank the compartment itself, look up, and you'll see the metal tab that holds it closed. Just pull it downward. Same result, easier access.

Done. Thanks for the help everybody!I removed the dash trim and reached down to bend the latch, then the piece fell off and buried itself deep within the innards of the dash. After a lot of searching, I finally had it back in my hand. This repeated I don't know how many times. I had a lot of issues trying to figure out how it went back on there, and how to get the thing to stay put. It even became more screwed up in the process, at one point in time, the compartment wouldn't stay closed at all. But in the end, I was finally able to get the latch to bend down without it falling off in the process, *and* the compartment would finally remain closed. I'm surprised I didn't break the latch during this project, as I bent the hell out of it time and time again. If you guys need to adjust yours, be careful - the metal is so terribly cheap and thin, it looks to me like it would snap in two even if you just looked at it the wrong way. As you may be able to tell in the pic, the latch still is pretty well bent out of shape.Here's a pic of where the latch sits, if anyone is interested.

Ha! I have had my vibe since monday and didn't even know this EXISTED. It's just the right size for my sunglasses. I could see how one might have problems with it coming open over time though. I hope I can find my sunglasses in the morning.
