LEDs on the outside now (tail/turn lights)

here are pics of the actionvibe with LED turn and tailights, as purchased on ebay from velocty LEDs. (smooth transaction)not sure how i feel. i think they are plenty bright, but as you can see, in the picture, the right lights which are stock bleed a lot.i defiantely like the crisp on off effect.now for the oportunity for you guys to say i told you so.for some reason the turn signals flicker twice as fast. someone warned me about this, but i cant remember what teh cause was. weird thing is is it only happens during the turn signal aspect. hazards flash at the normal rate. any explanations?well they are in there for now. i think i really need to drive behind it to see how i really feel if i am 100% for or not.side by side: left is LED, right is stock.

The LEDs don't pull as much current as the incandescent bulb, therefore the flasher thinks that the bulb is burned out. You'll have to wire a resistor in line to trick the turn signal into thinking it's getting the same amount of power as the incandescent bulb would. There is a link to the necessary part in whatever thread this was previously discussed in... (It was posted by ColonelPanic, who is actually dictating this one...heh...guess it balances out my earlier post under his name. )

well, if youa re so good at dictation, well then tell me why it doesn't effect the hazard setting. yea take that, identity confusers!i found the posthttp://forums.genvibe.com/zero...age=1and for the record i am just listening to the computer fan whirring.

Because the hazard lights aren't trying to find out whether or not your bulbs are burned out

bright lights are a good thing. you can defenately tell how much bright the stock lights are. you WANT people to be able to tell weather or not you're trying to stop. it could end up as a sefety hazard. (my two cents)

Wow...those worked out amazingly well! I'm very impressed! Maybe that'll be the next thing I do once I have money..

(my two cents)yea thats the thing. despite that picture, they really arent lesss brite. they just dont seem to bleed like the stock bulb... i know that doesnt make any sense, but that is the only way i can put it.i will drive behind it tonight and see what i think as a motorist behind it. if anybody with a vibe wants to do a side by side comaro a la road and track , lets drive down 101 together hahahi am som3ehwat concerned about daytime visibility too.

well, i am unLEDed again.i couldnt get comfortable with the daytime brightness... made me worry.you know how when you are behind an infiniti or a caddy at a stoplight and the brake LEDs start to burn your eyes? these did not acheive that.i dont want to give up ont eh idea. certainly one could tinker with the resistor values and get more brightness out of it.anybody know what LEDs (just the LED, not the whole assembly) cadillac uses?or do you have a part number for the tailight assembly?Jeff

Hey everyone... I got LEDs installed in back with the load resistors. everything works like it should. the only one problem i foresee is that the LEDs do not generate as much heat as regular bulbs... and they will not melt snow off the lights.. i'm just lazy to clean them i guess

So I'm curious, I want to smoke my tail lights but want higher output bulbs and I am having a heck of a time finding the correct ones. I have the 2009 AWD Vibe, currently trying to mod it to look like a GT..

Are you asking to be rear-ended? Maybe wanting some insurance money?
There is no high output lamp. If you "smoke" the lenses it will reduce visibility and it will be illegal.
The only way to increase the light output is with a custom flat panel LED. There is no replacement led lamp that will increase visibility and 99% will reduce visibility.
If you read carefully the originator of this ancient thread ultimately removed the LED replacements.

I upgraded to LEDs also!
My inside is so bright!!
My map light has a 18led panel

After doing my inside, I wanted the outside..
So I ordered the reverse lights first.. And yeah their brighter then the stock so then I ordered the
Amber turn singls...
This is where I went to far... I ordered 4 and I don't even want them on.. Their not bright enough for daytime use.
As for fixing the hyper flash you don't need to do any wiring just replace the module under the dash.
