Vibe project o' the day was........to add LED lighting (switchable with open/closed position) to the glovebox and center console. Many thanks to Wimperdink, who is wise in teh way of switches.essentially went out and bought the Street Glow LED singles in ice blue. (wanted white, but hey). As previously covered here in our forums the are prewired 12v self contained LEDs.i broke my non reversible rule and drilled 1/4" holes in teh upper corners of the glovebox and on the top rear of the center console to house the LEDs. In the center console there is no place to hide them. they are hidden in teh glovebox though. you have to pretty short to see them in the glovebox.put em in, and hooked them up to a reed switch that has the free half in the glove box upper, and the switch half on the underside of the dash. that one works really well. they are hooked up to a switched source underneath the dash. i am going back and forth on whether i want them unswitched. don't think so. confirmed that they turn off when the box is closed, so that is cool.the center console wiring isn't going so well. i need to go find me a smaller switch to fit up in the base of the console. i have the LEDs in though and have pictures to show as well.the picture of the box all lit up is disappointing. it brighter than it appears, and i think, although i wanted bright white, i will like the non distractive while driving blue.i also bought a red set because i want to copy CP's mod of behind the door handles.my LED theme week continues also as my LED lights for the brake/turn signals came today. i will replace one side and leave the other side stock and take a pic and post.bluebox:

Quote, originally posted by jeffgtx »glovebox, disasaembled.looking at that pic and the RPO code stickers in your glovebox, there were three I didn't have listed in
http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=6558I added these two:AY0 = Air bags, seat mounted side-impact,, driver and right front passenger, includes side curtain air bags14U - paint code for PlatinumThe third one is between MX0 and N33, looks like NU2. Is it NU2, and does anyone have any idea what that RPO code would be on an 05 Vibe?

Very cool. I've been wanting to do the same for my glove box and center console. What kind of switch did you use? I was thinking of using those chasis intrusion detection switches that come on computer.

i used reed switched (magnetic actuated)... so they are normally closed and then in the presence of a magnitized field, open. that way nothing sticks out, like a button or anything. again thanks to wimperdink, ecause before that i didnt know what a reed switch was.
