just a few minutes ago. my wife and came back from stupid dollar store. i went to get the baby seat out of the car. i saw what looked like drops of water on the carpet. i touched it, and BAM!! water. ALOT of water. only on the passenger side. both front and back. what the hell???? it rained yesterday, and the day before. i did not notice a open window. my wife says she hadn't open the windows neither. i pulled some of the carpet up, open one of the drain plugs but thers soo much water already on the carpet. what should i do?insurance? dealer? or just strip out the interior, and try to dry out the carpet, and which is the best way to?

A really powerful shop vac. Vac up all the water you can, close the windows. start the car, turn the heater on full and wait. It will dry up most of the carpet in a few hours. I used to detail cars and actually used a high pressure wash on carpets and a industrial vac to draw the water out. Then done the same thing I told you about closing up the car and turning on the heat. Open the windows during the evening if you can, by this time tomorrow your carpet should be dry.

thanks, i'm doing it right now. though i gotta say, i'm not using a vaccum. i have these shimies. they pick up water like there was a drought. there must've been atleast 3 gallons of water in there. i took off the seat, pulledup the carpet and went to town. i have the timer on my kitchen to go off in an hour. i'll see how it feels. it's k9inda late plus i just had me a cocktail. jean bean + grape juice. feeling nice if it's not compleately dry, i'll try again tomorrow.again, thanks for the advice.

That's a good idea to use one of those chamois. I was roped into buying one of those orange fake ones at Walmart one evening. HA! don't waste your money on one of those things! It just smeared the water around. But I'm glad your getting it to come up. If you have the sunroof, you might want to see if it's leaking somewhere. It actually sounds like the window was open some when it was raining to have that much water inside though. Honest mistake if it did happen, I've did it a few times myself and ended up at work in the morning with a wet (removed)...lol

Peel back the carpet in the front passenger side near the center console, there is a hose that drains water out from behind the firewall, I had the exact same problem, reattach the hose and zip tie it to the connector to make sure it doesn't come off again.

Mr. Poopypants to the rescue! I didn't know about this problem, guess the old sayin "ya learn something new everyday" applies to me today!

FYI... This is what mine looked like when the ac drain got unplugged.My shopvac got most of it out.. couldnt believe how much there was under the carpet. Plus this was before i found out about the ac plug so the next day the water was back..

i'm about to go try removing more of the carpet in a few. i need to find the struction you guys had on here. i think i saw it here anyways... i'm removing the center, shifter console. they keep the carpet down and make it difficult to get near the center tunnel.

ok, i removed the carpet, the seatseven the back seats. had the car open for a few days.. got a little dried up. then it looked like rain. so i shut everything, left the car alone for much of this past weekend. i go out to put it back together, and install my new auto dim mirror.wha thell!!!!???? more water. again, the passenger side. it wasn't spread out like before. everything was closed... i decided to put all the cars stuff in the house and go to the dealer. f@$& it!not before i install the mirror. another pain the (removed) too. i fried it one time. resolder it, then install, wired it to the ign controlled moonroof harness. then out of nowhere. the ground i was using going weak. weak!! so i had to open everythuing up and find another ground. finally done. now gotta keep job hunting. p.s. the dealer asked me to come back friday morning, hopefully it won't raij between now and then.

So that what that hose does. I was going to hook upa water pump to that hose to suck up water & shoot it back into the vents

I'm glad I haven't had a problem like that, though I almost did with all the rain we've had lately. Thanks for the warning, though, I'm checking my hose tomorrow. Maybe I'll zip tie it out of safety.

Whatever you do, don't roll up the windows and turn the heater on. Doing it that way, the moisture has no place to go other than into all of the electrical connections inside the car, in the form of humidity. Leave the doors/windows open and use a box fan, on high, to circulate air thus removing moisture to the atmosphere.
