Fuel door problems anyone?

This morning I stopped to fuel up, pulled the release and nothing. Being as my arms aren't long enough to pull the release and try to open the door at the same time, I made an appointment at the dealership. I go there this evening, and they take my car back to the service bay. About 15 minutes go by and they come tell me that the spring is broken. It should be in by Tuesday... hopefully. Is this a common problem, or an isolated incident?

Sounds isolated. My 03 has never had a problem.

Definitely not too common... I would have had that issue at least two or three times arleady if it were. I have heard of broken springs and the like associated with the cable, perhaps something along those lines is occurring... Let us know what the dealer comes up with!

I had the black plastic "spring" pop off a couple times. I happen to notice it the first time and popped it back on, and never opened the door any further than I needed to when filling up. See: http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=1378

Thanks for the replies. I am hoping that the proverbial black cloud isn't following me around in this vehicle too. cohocarl, thanks for the link. I did a search on 'fuel door, fuel filler door, and fuel filler' and nothing came up.
