Man, good luck seeing anything at night! Mine weren't even that dark on my S-10 and I had to roll the windows down to back up or parallel park or anything like that at night. Looks good though!

here in Indiana it is O.K. for limo tint in the rear as long as the seat folds down and you call it a delivery vehicle, according to local police. thats pretty dark. looks cool, all though the steelies deter from the good looks.

Seems like it could shape up to be some pretty expensive tint in the long run...LOL.

$270 is like the cost of ~1.5 to 2.0 tint jobs at many places.

i can see well at night, i do put the windows down sometime, but not often. it is risky since is a reason for cop to stop you even if they got nothing on u. if i usually see a cop i roll my front windows really fast...

Anyone know how it works if I drive into a state where its illegal to have tinted side windows when my car is registered in a state where its legal or they just dont care.

I've heard of some places writing "fix-it" tickets for out-of-staters... Can't really see how the hell they would be able to enforce that though.... What are they gonna tell you? "Sorry sir, but you must have this fixed next time you're visiting scenic downtown (removed) Falls, Indiana." (removed)!I dunno man! Anything is possible, I suppose.

Seems to me that it would get awfully expensive to go darker than legal, and would just be a lot easier (and cheaper!) to either live without tint or go legal.

I didn't realize how odd the rear quarter (the third) side window looked tinted since it's not recessed like the others. Almost looks like a chunk of plastic.

Holy crap those are dark.My old vibe had illegal tints here in Mass but cops could not say anything cuz I bought it like that. But I just saw this on the Mas site. This sucks.Quote » What are the specifications for aftermarket window tinting? For most vehicles, aftermarket tinting that registers at least 35% on a tint meter on side windows immediately adjacent to the driver and front passenger seats, and side windows immediately to the rear of the operator and passenger, is acceptable. The rear window may be tinted to the 35% level, but the vehicle must be equipped with two outside rear view mirrors. The windshield may only be tinted down to the AS-1 line, which is usually located in the uppermost (6) inches of the windshield. 35% Isn't dark at all is it?

You'll get away with it for a while, but eventually they'll get you. As long as you know the consiquences(sp) and are willing to live with them, it's all good. I'm still learning my lesson on illegal tint here in NY.

Someone need to come up with an electrochromatic tint kit, like those auto-dimming rear view mirrors: As the cop rolls up to your window, you just dial it down to the legal limit...

Not sure what ones they are now. Maybe someone else would know.

The most a cop can do if you have a car registered out of state is a "fix-it" ticket - As long as your current residence is out of state. If you are trying to pull a fast one they can fine you. (ie going to nevada to get licenced when you live in utah)I dont know how anyone can live without tint on thier windows, but then again living in the desert you feel the heat more.Utah lets you go "limo" on all windows behind the drivers head. So thats nice. I wish they would drop the front limit to 35% instead of 43%. Its just silly.

Ugh, I hate tint laws... I'm not going to be doing anything illegal in my car anyways, so why bother. Sure it maybe a little hard to see out them at night, but you can always roll them down. Cops just want a reason to pull people over for no reason (sorry had a bad experience with my brother driving my car while I was the passenger... the cops passed us going the opposite direction and turned around immediately to pull us over saying my license plate frame was covering my tag stickers. Obviously they wouldn't have had enough time to really see that. Anyways, they harrassed us, asked to search the car and kept us way too long for what they pulled us over for) sorry, little rant on why I hate police. In Ga, the legal tint limit is 35%. I wanted to get less, but I guess 35 it is going to have to be.

Anything is possible, I suppose. well, most states don't care if it's legal in the state you came from. you still have to abide by that state's laws. they may give you a warning if they are nice, but they can still give you a ticket and make you fix it. phil's vibe is in the same boat, his front windows are probably 15% or less and the legal limit here is 70% front and 40% rear. i have 35% front and 20% rear. he'll probably have to get his retinted to min 35% for the fronts and might be able to get away with the rears as long as he's very careful.

In NJ, I've heard the cops often make you rip tint off the windows while you're standing on the side of the road. It's illegal to have any tint on the front windows here..

Illegal here in the first 4 inches on the sides and the windshield. They claim it's for the officers saftey, so they can see what you're doing to make sure you aren't pulling a weapon. Makes sense to me.

If your state's highways are 70mph, and you go to a state where the highways are 55mph, that doesn't mean you can do 70... same for the tint!In VA, they can make you remove it on the spot, which is the only reason I haven't tinted mine yet. We can have 50% on the front two windows and 35% on the rest -- hardly worth it. For the little amount you're getting relative to what I'd like, it's worth it just to keep the car the way it is... tint tends to make cops look towards you a bit quicker, and with a relatively stock Vibe, I've yet to get a ticket (though I got them all the damn time in my MX-6... and I've definitely been driving just as fast!).

I can seriously see me getting arrested in VA for refusal to pull off my tint on the spot. If the officer's bubble gum machine is to bright can I make him smash it on the spot because its distracting other drivers? :D
