OK, looking to replace our 93 Jeep Cherokee (158,300 miles and getting tired of nickel-and-diming it to death)Looking at: 2003 Vibe $13,407 1.8L Auto 34,400 milesAC, CD, Cruise Control, PW, PDL, Tilt, Alloy Wheels, Moonroof, power mirrors, etc.We plan on test driving it this week, any problem areas I should look at when checking it out?

I would just check out the cladding behind the front wheels to make sure it is in good shape, they may replace it per the TSB if it's dinged up. Also check the battery, I didn't have any trouble with mine, but some people have had problems with the stock battery.Check out the maintenance and warranty issues to check any other problems that may need looked at. Anyway, nice car (exact same as mine)Welcome to the forum!!

So since it has a moonroof, there's a pretty good chance it'll leak, so that's a chance I might have to take, from what I've read here on the forum, also the AC might not blow as cold as I'd like, but we'll see. And from what I've read here, there might be a chance the front cigarette lighter/outlet might pop out in my hand someday. That, and the cladding looking sandblasted, and the rubber on the front windows sound like key areas to inspect. But I plan on inspecting every square inch of her and flip every single switch before even making an offer to the dealer. We're test driving it tomorrow, and probably going to get it if we can deal. $13,400 sounds "ok" for 34,400 miles, but I wouldn't mind getting down to about 12,500 or so. Any thoughts?

i wouldn't pay more than $12500 for that car. i just traded my 03 vibe GT with 32000 miles on it for $11K! add another $2K and they'll probably sell it for $13-14K if they're lucky. look up the pricing on nada.com for the most accurate values (banks use nada blue book so makes sense to use the same system).

I would do more resources. We brought our 04 Vibe 1.8L Auto 16,001 miles with extended warranty up to 39,000 miles, AC, CD, Cruise Control, Power Window, Power Lock, Power Sunroof, Tilt Steering, Alloy Wheels and trunk monkey for $12,750 with $2,000 down.

keep in mind everyone who trades their modded car in: that lowers the value, no matter how pimp the car is. i say the price isn't bad, but you could probably haggle it down a bit.

i wouldn't worry too much, i just picked up my 2003 vibe last saturday, with moons and tunes, went through the carwash without leak (it came from flordia, so i figure any leaks would have been taken care of already), no rattles in the dash (24,000 miles) got around 34-35MPG on a 150 mile highway drive.the AC blows decently if you close the vents, which the owners manual suggest, but doesn't really bother me at allgot mine for about $12,000, and $900 for a 60,000 mile warrenty... covered till 83,000...
