No More Vibe

Hadn't initially planned on trading it in when my g/f and I went to trade in her Explorer, but I saw this and fell for it right away. The Vibe's been fun, but all the rattles, vibrations, and other minor issues were really starting to get on my nerves. Maybe it's because I'm getting older or something Anyway, here's my new daily driver (have my '69 Ranchero for my 'fun' car)

Yep, an '05 Equinox LT AWD.I'm really happy with it. Got all the options I wanted except one, which was the Pioneer 7 speaker premium sound package. But, after hearing it in the Cobalt my g/f bought, the subwoofer is the only real difference. It's got 17" rims, AM/FM/CD/MP3 stereo, premium paint, and the side curtain airbags.

Thanks, Arc. I just need to get a few things for it and I'll be all set. It's going back to the dealer on 6/1 to get remote start and rustproofing put on it, and while it's there, it's getting splashguards and ventvisors put on the doors.

CAR & DRIVER: On the road, the Equinox feels agile in a way that truck-based SUVs never do. Engine and road noise are fine for this price class, and ride smoothness is very good. The automatic is completely unobtrusive, and accelerating to 60 takes 8.5 seconds, Chevy says. EPA fuel economy is 19 city, 25 highway for all models.Fine so far, but Chevy partisans will be shocked—shocked—at certain details. The automatic is made in Japan. The V-6 is a descendant of the familiar GM 60-degree pushrod dating back to 1980, but this one is made in China.See you at the gas pump!

19/25 doesn't bother me a bit. Especially when I'm going from having to by 93-octane to 87. Besides, I normally only managed 28mpg out of the Vibe. Not much diff.

I know a couple people I work with that have bought Equinox's and really like them. I've had my Vue just over a year now, and can't complain.

Love that shade of green, Carl. Nice choice. My g/f and I went for a ride today, and even with a heavy crosswind, the thing didn't rock a bit. I'm very impressed.

Nice ride!!I really like the Equinox. A person I work with just bought one and I went for a drive in it. It's got a pretty nice interior. Comfortable too.

Very comfortable. Rides great, no sharp jolts over bumps or anything. Can hardly hear the engine. About the only noise I hear is a bit from the tires (Bridgestone Dueler H/T's).

My stepdad has one of these, and it's awesome. My favorite part about the truck is the adjustable back seat. It slides back 8 inches for more leg room, or slides forward 8 inches for more cargo room.

Great SUV! I spent over three months at the plant that builds the Equinox last year. A great group of employees. I had thought about the Equinox or Vue, but went for the gas mileage with the Vibe. Over the last 4 weeks and 2400 miles, I have averaged 33.8 mpg. Since I have a large SUV, I like the Vibe for the commuter car and still haul many of the things in it.

The back seats recline too. I can't believe how much rear leg room there is with the seats slid all the way back.

Nice Vue, Cohocarl. I've wanted one for quite a while now, but instead I got an amazing deal on my Vibe. Thought about trading it for a Vue Redline, but I can't get over the standard auto transmission on the RL.

Glad you stayed in the GM family! That's an awesome color too...I've been in "talks" with my dealer...I may part ways with the Vibe by the end of the summer...seriously pondering a Solstice...

The window controls do take a bit to get used to, but I kind of like them where they are. One set of buttons = One less set of buttons that can break The engine is okay. Much better than the engine in the Ford Escape I test drove. The 5-speed automatic trans helps it a lot. What model did you look at? I bought an LT, so it has the better interior than the LS.

The color is 'Laser Blue Metallic' and is an extra-cost option. It looks wild in the sun. Have already gotten a few on it

Apparently aftermarket suppliers are looking at it, yeah.
