Frozen windows

The last two mornings the temp was 18-23 F without snow. All four of my windows where frozen shut until the interior started to warm up. Has anyone else notice this?

I've noticed that when it is 18-23 F, I tend to leave the windows shut. I guess I am just a wuss.

Ok JayZ and Paul . LOL, just curious if other members have this small problem with there windows when the temp is below freezing. It seems that they freeze up quite easily.

This morning, about 25 deg. F, I didn't have a problem opening the windows, but when putting them back up it seemed to take a couple tries to get it back up in the seal. Maybe the rubber was a little stiff for it to expand to let the window back in.All my other cars have had similar problems due to the cold winter weather we have around here.

Rasermon, My 97 Z-24 would do the same thing. I'd get in the car after scraping the frost/ice off of the windows, painfully light up a smoke with my frozen fingers, hit the switch to lower the window a little to get the smoke out, and they'd be froze shut. I haven't noticed a problem with the Vibe's, but I told myself I wouldn't smoke in the vibe, so I haven't tried to lower the windows when it's Would Rainx or similar have any lubricating properties in it that would help it keep from freezing to the rubber seals? Just a thought. My doors would freeze shut on the Cavalier also, but I had a can of silicone lubricant that I sprayed on the weatherstrip seal which cured that. I didn't try the silicone on the window seals because I'm assuming it would leave a residue on the window.

The Vibe has this problem. My old GA/GT (2000) had it too. My Aztek doesn't seem to have this problem. The rubber weather strip freezes to the windows. Take a plastic knife out with you in the mornings. Carefully slip the knife between the window and weatherstrip and free it.

When I picked up my Vibe yesterday, I shut down the window and I heard a "pop".The four windows did the same. The windows seems to freeze easily.

This has happen with every car that I have ownedIf you live in Michigan it's very normalAt first you think your window is going to shatter. But if you just easy it down you should be ok

I hope that I do not have this problem--but when it is freezing outside my windows stay UP. But we shall see.And YES for smokers I understand why you would want to crack a window. I smoke too ------------but do not in any of my cars.So I'll try to open mine when the weather get to about 0 deg and see what happens. One thing I should add is that when it is freezing outside ---to force a window to open causes havock on the window regulator which consists of only a thin cable or a thin strap which operates the glass. It is designed to move only a piece of glass---without the added drag of a stuck window by ice.My advice is to refrain from moving a frozen piece of glass until the car interior is fully warmed up . James
