...now, much like some of the other posts on this board, I get a really nasty hiss out of my tweeters. 2004 M&T vibe. It really appears to only be the tweeters and is exceedingly noticable when playing a CD or listening to Satellite Radio (Sirius, for you curious types). This annoys the (removed) out of me. I do not want to go to the expense of rewiring everything or changing out speakers. I just wanted a slightly better radio than the stock one, with a front aux input for my ipod. I picked the first model, it's going back cause I didn't like it much. Bought a nicer model that I like, but the hiss remains. It was not present with the stock radio.Is it possible to just snip the tweeter output wires from the friggen amp in my car to stop this? Which wires are they? Or will that inevitably just cause the speakers to start hissing? I've already installed and uninstalled the head unit far too many times thinking I had done something wrong with the installation...so my requirements for fixing this are cheap and easy.Ugh, please, somebody help.K.

You can disconnect the tweeters at the top of the doors, they have connectors that're fairly easy to disconnect.Disabling the tweeters will more or less nix your high-end response... It's basically the interaction between the radio and the M&T amp, which is very unfriendly with aftermarket radios...So, in your case, it sounds like disconnecting the tweeters are the easiest way to go..

Raginfish mentioned this Scosche product in an old post that you can hook up between your stereo's outs and the wiring harness for the car http://forums.genvibe.com/zero...age=2"...It may be under the model numbers SLC-4 or FAI-3A. Either way, how it works is, you connect the head unit's output to one side, the metra harness to the other side. Adjust each channel to suppress the output of the stereo. That way, you're basically sending a low level signal to the amp which is then properly amplified. I've been using that and it works like a charm..."So I might try that. I'm just unsure at this point. I know the noise is horrible, but I also know I don't want the factory stereo. So I have to do something. I cannot find the Metra wiring kit mentioned on that same discussion and elsewhere in this board, 70-2056, but even that seems like a helluva lot of work to get over this issue. K.

The Schosche box worked!Thanks, Ragingfish. Cheap and easy, though cheap is appropriate since the first one broke. But the replacement worked out just fine...So this is an easy way to avoid bypassing the amp and replacing all the speakers.K.
