Sick of buying bulbs every 2-3 months.

Once again, I had to replace one headlight and one foglight (silverstars). Has anyone ever tried the Sylvania XV (Xtra Vision) They are supposed to be brighter than stock lights but I don't want to go out and blow the money on them if they won't make a difference.

my stock bulbs are still going just fine with 78 K miles (probably about 2000 hours of mixed DRL and headlight use)

well in my experience with brighter bulbs, they die quickly! I had a set of expensive piaa's for my headlights lasted months, set of aftermarket fogs, lasted less than a month. good thing I had kept my original bulbs, they still workand that's been since march of '03. so if I were you I'd buy a bulb that is equal to what the originals were. just my $.02

I've had those in there... I didn't think they were too bad. I thought they were a tad brighter than stock, but I've heard mixed responses from others. They lasted a lot longer than Silverstars, but one did eventually croak after several months... So, I went back to two cheapo GE bulbs and haven't had any problems since. lol!Pity they can't blend excellent lighting with longetivity...

Hiya...Yeah, I used the Xtra Visions in my old Truck, were only slightly better than OEM. Used one as a cheap replacement for when my first Silverstars blew out, they reminded me more of the OEMs than anything else.Right now I'm running Hella bulbs in the headlights. Not a super white light like the blue coated bulbs but comparable to the SS's. We'll see how long they last... Dave

One question, when you install the bulbs are you touching the glass bulb with your fingers or are you using a clean cotton rag?

The Xtra Visions aren't going to give you *whiter* light, but it might be brighter. From what I've seen, they're just slightly more robust than stocks...Not sure what price they retail at, but might be worth a shot...You could always do the HID conversion, of course......wickedly whiter light, and no bulb replacement.
