Replacing automatic shift knob

I've seen some pretty cool auto shift knobs around and was just wondering if it was possible to get a new one for my vibe. Is it not possible b/c of the o/d button on the stock knob?

I'm having the same problem. thats the only thing on the interior i can't change. If the button comes out i may just drill a hole in one. AeroGear makes some really nice ones.

A friend of mine with a manual stick had just bought a nice shift knob and I said its too bad they don't make an auto one with the OD buttone. My friend told me check Ebay, and look what I found! So who else is in for a group buy

Nothing like resurrecting an old thread, but would it be possible to replace the knob with any manual after market one, and re-wire that button somewhere else (say on the dash)?

That sounds like a cool idea.I've wanted to replace mine forever.I would like a leather wrapped one though.Where would you put the button,in the knob,or on the console.

For the amount I use it, I wouldn't put it on the knob. What I'd like to do it remove the factory button, run the wiring over to the current buttons on the dash (security, hatch release, etc). I've got one or two blanks on that side, and could put button that matched over there. I'm just not sure how easy it would be to re-wire.

So wait.. would it be possible or not? and how would you go about removing the stock knob?

It's possible, might be a bit tough to run wiring though. I wouldn't get rid of that O/D button. There's a screw on the back of the shift knob, just be careful when you take it off not to break the o/d button.
