...how do I route the antenna wire for my Sirius radio receiver into the 2004 Vibe I just bought?I tried the weatherstripping, but man that stuff is on tight.I tried the gaps between the roof and the plastic (interior, forgive me if my terminology is incorrect) walls, but could only get it into some of the gaps...other gaps simply didn't exist.I tried between the body and the floor of the interior, but man no gaps there. So I'm about to give up. Please help. This isn't going to be a fancy mount like I've seen here on the boards when searching for information on this. It's a JVC unit with a suction cup mount that you attach to a corner of the windshield. It stays out of the way, it works alright, so I am not drilling holes through anything. Just a simple, can be removed if need be, install.*sigh*K.

I just finish "Do it yourself XM satellite radio" few days ago. Here is direct link
http://www.cardomain.com/id/daddyvibemi and go to page 8. Step by step and pictures included...I know that it's tough to install antenna wire that you don't want break wire or plastic interior. I was planning to get glass antenna mount that no more antenna on roof because I afraid to get rust on the roof someday. It was took me about fifteen minutes to install antenna and take my time to complete. And welcome to GenVibe forum and you will learn a lot of tips from us..

Where do you want to put the antenna? Does it matter how 'aesthetic' it is?I have a JVC antenna up on the top corner of the windshield that seems to do well for me.. If you do it from the windshield mount, it should work like this:Keep in mind, it's after 1 am, so i'm doing this from memory.1. Start from the antenna and run the wire inside. Place the antenna at the top corner of the driver side of the windshield. It shouldn't be a hard task to get the wire down into the weatherstripping on the side of the glass. Use a small screwdriver (carefully of course) to push it into place.2. There should be a gap between the fender and the a-pillar, you can run the antenna wire through there, and with the door open, into the interior.3. Pull up on the weatherstripping near where the antenna wire comes in. Pull inward toward the rear of the car, it'll resist a little, but shouldn't take too much work.4. Run the wire beneath it, and carefully push the stripping back down. You don't want to cut the wire when you do this, so give it a slight bit of slack on either side.5. You should be able to run the wire up the side now, straight up to the unit. If you feel adventurous, you can pull down the a-pillar and hide the wiring in the dash.To pull down the a-pillar, slip your fingers in on top, and pull toward the center of the windshield. This will take a lot of work, and be prepared for a sudden release of tension... There're two clips holding it in. I'm very doubtful that these would break, so don't worry about that. With that off, you can tuck the spare wire down into the dash, and run whatever you need to the radio itself. Please be cautious doing this! I've been doing it for over a year now, and know how much pressure is involved. It's not hard...and the chances that you'll break something are slim, but there's always possibility.

Good suggestions thus far. And welcome aboard!I just stepped out to take a few pics of my Sirius install if that will help you any... It was easy, not really any tools required, and can be done in a matter of minutes without anything permanent. I have the Sportster, and have actually done this same install on two other Vibes, all turned out quite well. For mounting the antenna, I started at the outside and worked my way in. I chose the right side of the roof to mount the antenna. It probably would have looked better if I slapped it to the center of the roof, but I found the hatch hinges to be in the way. Plus, where I have it mounted, there is less cable visible, and it makes it easy to get inside exactly where I need it.From there, I just pushed the cable underneath the top of the quarter panel trim. When you get to the edge of the trim by the rear door, you can run the cable between the trim and the weatherstripping. I just stuck it down in the gap, no problems there. Once you reach the rear door sill, you can then pop off the door sill trim... That should just pull straight up. You may have to give it a bit of a tug, but it should come off with no problems...With that trim off, you can run the cable along with the others. Kinda hard to see, check where I put the triangles to see where the cable runs. When you reach the 'B' pillar, I wouldn't worry about taking that loose. Just push the cable underneath the trim instead... On mine, as I approached the center of the trim, the cable exits and goes under the passenger's seat where the excess is bundled up. I've got the Sporster mounted in the center console at the very front.Since you have a different mounting location, you can just repeat what was done for the rear door sill trim. The front just pulls up as well, run the cable under there. Then, just find a way to make it to the windshield, you probably could just route the cable between the dash and the weatherstripping. Hope this helps, and keep us posted on how things turn out.

It doesn't really stand out in the back, either, like it might in the front, because there's so much other black stuff sticking up back there. Mine was one of the other two Vibes CP did this install on, just last week in fact, and it took less than 5 minutes...very quick. Good luck....hope one of these methods works out for you without much trouble.

I did it! THanks for the help here. Basically I think I probably combined a couple of the responses here. Put the antenna it the back right corner, ran it down through the weather stripping of the hatch (which I pulled away and restuck to the car -- gooey mess that lot), through the passenger side rear plastic wall, down through the passenger side inside rubber trim, under the step plate, up the rubber trim, across plastic to passenger front door, through rubber trim again around door and down to dash. Whew. At any rate, there's only about a foot of slack i will cable tie somehow so it looks a little better. The unit itself is suction cup mounted to the windshield in the middle, right over the radio itself. My fingers are now very sore. Remind me never to do this so soon after clipping my nails again...but thanks for the assistance and ideas!K.
