How many weeks to receive an factory ordered Pontiac Vibe?

Vibe Drivers: Many people are sharing stories of how long it takes to receive a car. Those of you lucky sods who are currently enjoying your ordered vehicle, how many weeks did it take to deliver your requested Pontiac Vibe? Note: If your dealer found a car for you pre-built at another dealership, that doesn't count for this poll, you must have waited patiently (or not) for a factory ordered car.

My salesman says my car was "preferrenced" June 18th,which he terms as being set up to be built and will be at the dealer a month later. He is faxing me the documentation (I bought from my home town 4 hrs away) may let you know more later. Soooo..... the car was ordered April 25th and this makes my wait 12 weeks. He says his boss was not impressed that he told me 6-7 weeks. He will let me know about a loaner because based on his advise I sold my Honda Civic too early to a buyer with cash on hand. could have sold that car 20 times Ken.

Hi there everyone...I haven't posted in a while but I just got news that my Vibe GT is on route from the factory! I ordered on April 29th...my original build date was May 19th...my rescheduled build date was June 14th...so that makes it about 8 or 9 weeks depending on when it actually arrives! Not too bad! Just thought I would share the news that hopefully the wait is decreasing.

Still waiting here in Ottawa....Ordered March 12 2002. The car was supposed to be built the week of June 10...90 days after it was ordered. I'm thinking if enough of us get together and hassle GM something can get done about us waiting this long? My efforts with GM have amounted to ZIP! By the way mine is a Frosty Base 5spd with Power Package, Alum rims and Premium Stereo.

Hey! Check out the comments Campbell made at http://www.matrixvibe.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=473 about US/Canada orders! Is it just me or are just Canucks that are having trouble with their orders! Say it isn't so Can anyone get an answer on this notion that Canadian orders aren't treated the same as US orders?

My theory on the longer waits in Canada... Could be more Canadians are ordering antilock brakes or AWD due to winter weather conditions. The link below that someone posted seems to indicate that these options will increase lead times. http://www.donlen.com/Whats_New/new_pro ... rs_gm.html Just got word that my base Vibe is built. That's 15 weeks since ordered plus dealer says 2 weeks for delivery.

My dealer denied that ABS or AWD has any affect on ordering whatsoever. The Mazda dealer has 9 P5's sitting on their lot. They are looking better than ever

Is that 3 to 4 months once they give you a build date? Or is that the average wait time including the time up until you have a build date?

Actually AntiLock Brakes, All Wheel Drive, GTs, Monotone Paint, Manual Transmission, and 16" Aluminum Wheels make all the difference in the world on order time. Based on discussions I had with a dealer while on vacation.*)Anti-Lock Brakes: On average approx 10% base vibes any given week.*)5-Speed Transmission:24% of the production weeks it has been unavailable. Another 24% of weeks it is less then 8% of production.*)AWD: Approx 10 to 17% of production any given week.*)GTs Approx 11-17% of production any given week.*)16" Alluminum Wheels: Available 40-60% of production.*)Monotone exterior: Approx 25% of production (Working towards 40% for July)All American dealers know approx how many Vibes they are getting three months in advance. Each Wed they know the option restrictions. Each Thurs they know if they can get any of the restrictions. Request buildable orders by Sat. On Tue know which orders they got. On Thurs know Target Production Week.1,200 Vibes per week x 10% base ABS x 40% Aluminum x 25% Monotone = 12 for 3,000+ dealers. Unfortunately, I beleive your dealers have given you unrealistic expectations.

Ma-Vibe-fan:Good Grief! Thanks for the info but.....Based on your figures what the heck are the chances of a 5sp base vibe w/ABS being built, ever! Slim, none.....Thanks, Ken.

We ordered ours May 8th and it arrived June 28th when we were on vacation. We were a little miffed that we didn't have it for our vacation but when we returned early from our vacation our Vibe was here and we were able to get the $500 rebate!! Anyway we really like it. We're going to carry two kayaks on it and haven't figured out how. Does anybody out there have a solution?

Hi all! Just to provide yet another potential build date ... I ordered my base vibe, satellite, auto with ABS, power, moon & toons and 16" rims on April 1 and was given a build date in the last week of July. Should see the car hopefully around mid august. Ah, I can't wait!!

mmm... bacon.....Maybe we poor Canucks are getting punished for something, heck I don't know. Would it help if I starting begging??? Please? How about we send down a pallet of Molson, would that help?I just got off the fone with GM Canada, targetted build date is Aug. 26th. Ordered April 8th. IF the dates hold, I'll be looking at a little over 5 months. Sigh....

I am emailing GM Customer service the following: I ordered a Pontiac Vibe April 24 and was mislead at the time about how long it would take to receive the car.I specifically asked my dealer if there was any problem with getting the car for the summer so I could use it for a family vacation. I was told it would be 8-10 weeks, the standard ordering period. I was told that even though this car was a new model, there was no backlog of orders. I now know that to be incorrect. Someone at GM canada knew the build dates for customers who ordered in February were 3 months out and that those customers were waiting 17+ weeks.I asked when I should sell my existing car so I may use the funds to put down on my next car. I was told "June would be safe".Well it turns out that my build date is Aug 17 which apparently means I won't get the car until about September 16.Needless to say my first experience with a domestic manufacturer has not been very satisfying, and I haven't even received my keys!I have information that leads me to believe that Canadian customers are not receiving their cars in a timely fashion. There appears to be more cars available to Americans.I believe my family and I have waited long enough. I would like to see my build date changed to as soon as possible. Let you know what reply if any I get.

Yikes! You're still waiting! I almost ordered my Vibe because my dealer was having trouble finding one with the options I wanted. I was also told 8 weeks for an order. After hearing the horror stories in this thread, I'm glad I didn't order one.If anyone is considering ordering a Vibe take some time to find a dealer willing to do a dealer search and see what other dealers have on their lots. My dealer did a search of dealers in a 50-mile radius to find mine. It took 2-weeks but it was worth the wait. He could do a search of dealers up to a 200-mile radius but I didn't want a new Vibe with 200-miles already on the clock. As it turned out, mine had a little over 50 when I picked it up.BTW, let me plug my dealer because they were so great! The best new car purchase I've ever had. The dealership was Davis Pontiac in Richboro, PA (215-355-1400).

I can't complain about the way the dealer has treated me, there just aren't an abundance of cars in Canada for some reason. My dealer looked for a 5 speed base vibe w/ABS coast to coast with no luck, so I decided to order. He did it again after we learned that a 10 week wait was a dream. There is a definite shortage of cars in Canada.

quote:good luckNeeded more than luck unfortunately.GM called me and said that the dealer should have known that there were backorders in May if not April. The Dealer denies all knowledge. GM says there were never any restrictions on my vehicle. The Dealer says the ABS and 5 speed was a problem.GM says my build date is Aug 19.The Dealer says it is two weeks later.I could just retch I would cancel if the car wasn't such a good match for my family, the dealer didn't offer me a loaner, and my sister-in-law didn't work at the dealer. There just aren't any good alternatives so I am going to drive their 91 Lumina until mine comes in. Apparently they were fresh out of 71 Chevelle Powerglides. Thanks for listening.

Ken, I keep surfing and can not find Canadian Sales numbers. If you look at total passenger cars sales for GM, Canada is about 12% of the total (US & Canada). If we use this percentage. Max of 70,000 Vibes x 12% = 8,400 for Canada. Or 700 month. 807 GM Dealers in Canada, ? Pontiac ?.

Ma-Vibe-Fan:Thanks for digging this info up.About 1/2 the dealers handle Pontiac. My dealer handles Everything but Cadillac. The two dealers in Thunder Bay split the product lines. So each Pontiac Dealer in Canada will get 1.5 cars/month. Based on the demand I have heard (dealers are begging each other for cars and getting tons of inquiries), someone seriously under estimated the market for this car in Canada. There hasn't been a similar, high quality vehicle since the 1991 Civic Wagon, I have been bugging Honda for years to replace that gem.BTW, did you get my order # I emailed?

Funny... I emailed them questions about the Vibe... it took them more than a week to answer my questions but by that time I had gone to Turpin and ordered one from them. Not very good business to not reply to a customer email for a whole week... especially in "high tech" Ottawa

Actually we ended up with someone's cancelled order. They cancelled it the day we were in to order one so we took it... only thing it didn't have that I wanted was the colour... I wanted Salsa and this one is Satellite. Anyway we were told that this order should be in in August. Although I am probably going to call him back soon to confirm that. I figured it was stupid to wait until November for a colour that I wanted, when I didn't mind the silver anyway. Salesman was quite nice there though which I liked.

I talked to them first, but went elsewere after the crumby service I got from the maintenance department. Twice I made appointments to get my 2000 Sunfire GT into the garage. Each time they "managed" to get my car into the garage a full day later... (I didn't buy from Turpin, but that shouldn't make a difference. I bought from Jack May, but they are no longer convenient for servicing) I finally got fed up with the whole thing. I ordered my Vibe from Sunrise.

We ordered ours May 10th and received it on July 3, about 8 weeks, thru GM's family discount plan. Great vehicle Car & Driver should look at Consumer Reports rating of the vibe they rated it higher than the PT Cruiser and the Mazda

(removed) Why do americans have no trouble getting their cars I am sticking with my consipiracy theories. It goes like this: If there is more profit in building a car for a U.S. customer, they will make a Canuck wait until Lake Ontario Freezes over to receive their car. Prove me wrong

Well the Vibe is here....FINALLY!!Ordered March 12Here July 15126 DAYS!!!!!Thats a third of a year. Now get this....Dealership leaves message at 9am this morning saying they need insurance info and the plate portion of permit. Get the message at 3pm and tell them I'll be right in with the paperwork and will wait for someone to go to the licence bureau. Will take the car home tonight. Can't do it! Between 9AM and 3PM...The morons did'nt get the car ready to go. He tells me the detailers leave at 4..So I'll have to wait till tommorow. Maybe it's just me...But I would think that someone who's been waiting 4 months for a car would take priority?!?Should be an interesting conversation I have with them tommorow(Sent my wife with the paperwork....Safer for them!!!)

Ordered my AWD Vibe on May 10th. It's now August and I just got a call saying it will be here on the 20th. Geez. Ridculous. Not only that, but the dealership never even knew it was in production until they got information from NUMMI that the car was shipping to TX. Love the car, hate the dealership, REALLY HATE the production problems.
