Doesn't that just suck? Sorry man, I really feel for you. People that don't care about their own cars are one thing, but those that don't even bother paying any bit of consideration to other peoples' cars (or property in general) are so annoying. I say we ship them all to the moon and just be done with it.

I just spent a week in southern California (Riverside/Ontario) and I can say for certain it's like a whole different world. People do definitely drive more aggressively, but you have to. If you are passive driving there you'll never get anywhere. However, I've been hit in parking lots here in MT and people do the same thing. They don't ever want to admit they're at fault. It's always someone else's problem.

Learn to park away from everyone else. It may take an extra 2 mins to walk the extra distance, but it's worth saving yourself from dents. Front parking spaces are prime spots for people in a hurry who don't care where they swing their door open. The next time you walk to your car, count how many other cars you see full of door dings. I'd be amazed if you could find one with out any.

LOL!Never had the bacon ranch...sounds intriguing. Might have to go.Unfortunately, we live in a world where too many people don't care about anyone else, or respecting anyone else or their property. It's sad, but it's true. I've long since given up on trying to protect my car from damage in the parking lot, since no matter how far I park, someone feels they are "just as cool" as me, and park right next to me. IMHO, you have *less* of a chance of damage from a door ding farther away because MANY senior citizens (not all), park as close as possible to stores. They, to me, seem more likely to accidentally throw a door open too fast...Thankfully, I've had no dents...but those side spears are chipped to hell, as you've noticed the paint there doesn't grip very well. If at all.As an aside, we've had our G6 since December 30th, and not a chip on it yet. And it endured winter's mud, rock salt, and crap. So, it seems the paint problem is definitely traceable to something with NUMMI, whether it be product or procedure...BUT, we'll see how it looks at the end of summer...

I feel your pain my friend. Sometimes no matter how far away you park some idiot has got to see how close they can park next to you. I swear that they are just plain stupid. I tell you that if someone parks that close to me and door dings my car and I know that the car next to mine is the one that has done the damage it will have a couple of flat tires when the dude comes back to get his car. It won't take the dent out but it will give me some satisfaction that I have caused him some grief also. I know not the way to be BUT.

If at all.I have two dents because of angled parking spaces and someone with high doors that didn't hit the cladding instead. But those trim pieces on the doors are really getting in rough shape, especially the driver's door. The paint is chipped off in at least 3 or 4 places now, and the touchup paint won't really adhere either.

They, to me, seem more likely to accidentally throw a door open too fast......The two largest dents in my car came from "senior citizens". One at the "Y", the other at my office. I saw who parked next to me and when I got back to my car later found HUGE gashes in the trim
