Selling a used. Simplest way?

In anticipation of the arrival of our Vibe early next month we found that our local mechanic (In Ontario) will buy our 13 year old car off us for a few hundred (but at least it was 2 hundred more than the dealer offered). I have never sold/bought a used car. What is the easiest way to transact the deal? I am hoping to keep the plates for the Vibe. Thanks for your experience.

sign over the ownership and write a recept for the transaction. You can keep your plates. I sold my 1989 Cavalier Z24 for $500. I signed over the ownership and kept my plates.

Even for a private sale? Now I had to buy something when getting that 89 cavalier signed to me when I bought it. But when I sold it to my neighbour I didn't need to get any paperwork.

Make sure you keep the plate portion of the ownership otherwise your plate is useless without the paperwork.

The UVIP helps make the paperwork flow faster. You can get a printed history of your car w/ just the VIN# and using the ServiceOntario Kiosks ->
