Volunteer firefighter here, looking to install lights and siren in my 2004AWD. Has anyone else had experience with this?

I think there are couple of other firemen here. I found an old thread where Mr. Poopypants said he was going to have some strobes wired into his front lights. Ullbergm has PA systems, a siren must be similar. Were you thinking of something usually hidden, or a big light bar for the roof?Welcome to genvibe.

As joatmon asked, what kind? I have strobes in my foglamp housings and backup housings, personally. Not too bad a job to do. Are you looking at light bar? Strobes behind the grille?

i installed 12 strobes on my matrix, 2 in each headlamp (you will need to crack these open to clean out) 2 in the rear tail lamp housings and 2 in the back window, 2 behind the lower grille.

I pulled the 100-watt Federal Signal siren amplifier and speaker, and the solid state wig-wag flasher out of my Camaro, and want to put both in my Vibe. Both systems are 12-volt direct connects, but without a schematic, I have no idea where to splice-in. Lightbars and red strobes are illegal in this state without authorization by the state police.I already have a set of red halogen lamps for my grill, but thinking of also wiring my driving lights to flash opposite the red lamps.I guess what I really need to know is where is the best spot to tie-in with a 12-volt source. Also, does anyone know if Chilton's or another company puts out a repair manual on the Vibe ?Thanks!

I was thinking about the strobes as joat said but I have never been monetarily been able to get to it. Maybe someday.

There is a service manual out, I think it's Haynes or something.. Hayes? It's around $110. If this stuff pulls a lot of amperage, i'd suggest either a direct run to the battery, or the ignition harness. The ignition harness is relatively easy to get to. Pull off the bottom of the steering column by removing the screw on the bottom, and two on the front (Twist the wheel and look behind it, you'll see two black screws). Remove those and the bottom pops off. That gives you easy access.12v: White & BlackACC: Blue/RedIgnition: Black/WhiteSo those give you constant 12v. 12v in ACC, and 12v on Ignition.
