Interesting article in WStJrl of 4/7/05 regarding detergent levels in gasoline. BMW, Honda, GM and Toyota all recommend gasoline that meets a higher standard for detergents than the minimum set by EPA. Those making the "top tier" list for all grades of their gasoline include Shell, Chevron. ConocoPhillips brands (Phillips 66, Conoco, 76), Quik Trip, Entec Stations and MFA Oil. Notably absent was BP/Amoco. Article also mentioned the option of adding a detergent gasoline additive purchased at an auto parts store every 3,000 miles or filling up occasionally with a brand that includes these extra detergents but it stands to reason that a constant level of adequate detergents would be better at keeping valves and fuel injectors clean.

GM has many issues with injectors clogging on their newer vehicles andcausing all kinds of starting, running, shifting etc... problems with all theirvehicles... several bulletins out to clean the injectors... all due to poorquality gas.

Sort of wonder how this got moved to "off topic". I would think that info on the gas we put in our Vibes would be very much "on topic". Compared to a lot of the crap that is in the Vibe Lounge I think this would be of general interest to Vibe owners. In the future I will think before wasting my time passing on such useful current information only to see it moved where few will ever see it.
