Custom Big Brake Kit Installed

just got my Vibe back with the upgraded custom big brake kit The difference is night and day I took the car out for its first in traffic test on Saturday in that falling slush and ther was no fade or unsure feeling and these brakes are not broke in yet. Went with the bigger brake rotor (12.5") which meant we needed to fabricate custom mounting brackets for the rear and fabricate custom E-brake mounts. Which we found out upon installation that the custom mounts for the E-brake were too long (about 1") so I have no E-brake right now (automatic so doesn't matter I guess) I must say this that badging the Vibe as a Pontiac is a joke since the Vibe seems to carry only Toyota parts. Proved to be a bit difficult. We had to change the spindle to accept the the rotors in the rear. By changing the spindle it pushed the rear wheels out by 2/8th's of an inch. We had to Fabricate custom brackets for the steel braided brake lines on all four corners. Because it seems that Toyota is the only manufaturer that has reversed brackets (why this is unknown). That made for another pain in the @$$. Outside of all the custom fabrication that had to be done it was worth it by far. sorry no pics yet but I didn't want to take pics of the wheels and brakes in that slop from the weekend. I'll take a few pics this afternoon and get posted by tonite

sure, and i'd love to make my vibe fly in the air, but unless you have a real reason to add a big brake kit, it's not worth the money. blaqjaq are you going to add a turbo??*edit* i just saw your sig. keep us updated on your s/c endeavors.

married life is good. As for the brakes. Well I always wanted to get rid of the rear drum cause disc brakes look better through the rims then the drum. That would require a conversion. While your at it, might as well make it a good set of slotted or drilled discs and a nice big set of pads to help slow the car down when that S/C gets installed. But now I don't know if I am going to add more power to the Vibe which means yes, I don't need a big brake system.

glad to know that you guys are doing good!I agree with you I had the front disc rear drum set-up! and its not the best look behind aftermarket wheels. Now with the slotted discs all the way around looks great and stops like a son of a *****.footnote gotta go back to the shop today to just to make sure all the custom brackets are ok and make sure ther are no leaks ar any thing like that...if I'm not too tired once i make it home I'll take some pics and post em up tonight!
