need cassette deck

Into the second week after ordering an '05 Vibe. Last car we got was a 2000 Pontiac Montana. The factory stereo was radio and CD but we wanted a cassette deck also. This was back ordered. So when this setup came in we brought back the Montana and it was swapped. Now 5 years later we are again getting the factory default ie CD and radio. I forgot to inquire of the dealer if it is possible to again get a cassette as well. What do you suggest?

I don't know all the options for the '05, but I know on the '03-04's it would be hard to just 'swap out' the radio, because they used a different format radio than all the other GMs. Same is probably true, unless they changed a lot between 04 and 05.Like I said, i'm not sure if they offer CD/Cassette on the '05 or not, but you should probably find out before delivery, because it's not something they'll be able to find easily unless there's another '05 on the lot that has it.

The Matrix 03 & 04 came with an option for a CD & cassette - basically the single-CD with a cassette in the "blank" space beneath the preset buttons. They come up on Ebay every now and then, and would be a simple swap with the unit that comes with your 05. You could also poke around the web for parts & salvage dealers, but they'll cost more.

I checked the Vibe brochure and it doesnt show a cassette as an option.

If they didn't change any of the connectors from 03-04 to 05, you can probably get the CD/Cassette from an 03-04 off ebay and throw it in there..

I bought a CD/tape headunit from an 03 Matrix off ebay, and it was really simple to swap in for the single CD stock Vibe radio. It has the same look as the stock radio, the colors match, provides all the info/RDS stuff that the stock Vibe radio has, just also has a tape deck. Button is labeled CD/TAPE instead of CD/AUX. Should look like the one in the completed auction that GMJAP posted the link for.As Jahntassa said, the question is if the head unit wiring changed between 03/04 and the 2005 models.

If you managed to do that GMJAP, then there should be no problem finding an 03/04 deck and putting it in an 05.

....I wanted a cassette deck, and was told there wasn't one for a Vibe.... now I find out the 'trix had one.... so I called my salvage yard buddy.....$100 later, I have a AM/FM/CD/Cassette from an '03 'trix on it's way to me......add XM, and I will be able to listen to anything I want, including my old beloved cassettes!!!!
