Anyone have any suggestions for a brand of coolant to top off my coolant overflow with? I have read some past topics on coolant and looked in the owners manual about the coolant type and I get the impression that I should be picky about the type of coolant to use. Any auggestions for an 03 GT?Thanks, Jim

Get the stuff from the Toyota dealer. It might be slightly more$ but you can't go wrong.

I have not flushed mine yet, will do in the summer but I have heard the Toyota coolant is just normal green just tinted red. It is not extended life red like others. Makes sense too since it is recommended to be changed every couple of years or what ever the manual states. As far as I know there are only the two types as far as life range out there, the entended life and the old normal green.Search the site on coolant change and I am sure it was discussed at length. Some have taken their cars into Toyota and discovered the above.

The Toyota isn't just tinted red. Unlike the traditional green, it has no silicon or silicates, thus no build-up on your water pump, ect....

I would think that just as long as it is the Dexcool stuff you shouldn't have a problem. I have a bottle of the 50/50 Prestone.

toyota has 2 different coolants, long life red and super long life, which is also red. toyota has always had red coolant for as long as i have been working at dealers. volvo uses blue colored coolant.

So then what is the life of the Vibes coolant???? The owners manual states changing at 30,000 or every 24 months using an Ethylene Glycol Base coolant. Does not sound like long life to me...

Yeah, and as mentioned Toyota has 2, Volvo has blue, and Medium Duty GM Trucks use a totally different coolant. I use the normal Toyota Red in everything, Part # 00272-1LLAC.
