Next Generation Vibe Wishlist

I looked and didn't see this topic already (I'm sure someone else will find it, but until then.....)1) 225 hp in the GT2) 200 (minimum) HP in the AWD3) 6 speed manual/5 speed auto in the AWD.4) 12 volt outlets in the hatch area, and rear seat.5) more storage under the rear tire cover, or should I say usable storage. big enough for a smallish tool box (large shoe box size?)6) more color choices; "Cranberry" Red, "Tangerine" Pale Orange; "Sunny" Bright Yellow; "Evergreen" Forest Green; "Coffee" Mocha brown metallic; "Ivory" Pearlscent White; "Limeade" Bright Green (I'm sure there are MANY MANY More....this was just off the cuff.) {BTW; anyone with good photoshop skills, I'd love to see some of these colors; a lot I've seen on show cars, but not all}7) AC switch that will actually turn off the compressor even during defrosting.OK, I know that someone from GM reads this, maybe the Vibe Product manager? Lets toss out some ideas for them....

Sounds good to me. I would put 250 HP in the GT though.

I don't think the GT needs THAT much horsepower, it IS a small car. However, if I were going to suggest an engine choice, I'd recommend that GM put its 2.0L supercharged engine from the Cobalt SS/Ion Redline; that car has such a beautiful powerband and awesome thrust, it'd be a great engine to have. No more of these wimpy Toyota motors that need to revv to the moon to make any power.I do like the suggestion about more colors; I wish I could've ordered myself a bright "sunshine" yellow Vibe, that would've looked sweet.

1.Paneled moonroof (like the G6)2. Available HID headlights3. Headlight Halos4. Beefier stock horn5. 3 prong household outlet (add one in the rear hatch as well)6. Optional towing package (heavier rear shocks and factory installed hitch)7. Move the fuse box to an area with easier access8. Telescoping steering wheel9. Washer sprayers built in to the wiper arms (almost all GMs have it anyway)10. Color match options for interior (as well as gauge lights)

1. I think the interior needs to be de-cheapified. There is too much plastic and cheap cloth in the door panels and trim.2. Power definitely needs to be increased throughout the line to start with at least 180hp for the base.3. The front and rear need to be redesigned. IMO the '05 front end was a big mistake. The '03/04 design is cool but still seems too rounded to me. I would like to see the front and rear bumpers have a more agressive look and less van-ish. 4. I might extend it a little, not to the point of the Magnum, but just a foot or 2 longer.5. I also agree with the trans comments. I also think they should make all models available in auto or manual.6. A wider color selection would be good.

Oh yeah, and the roof rack as an option, not just the cross beams.

I wish Pontiac would survive long enough to worry about what engine and trim to put in an updated Vibe!I think I'm probably gonna have to shop the Toyota dealer for a 'trix by the time I want to replace the Vibe (2010 or so?)

Toyota makes plenty strong engines, GM's wishes for the car is what limited the power. Toyota engines are also know for very long life, and the Cobalt Engine in supercharged form is an unknown...

1) The outlet in the back of the hatch would be sweet. Then I could play my elecrtic guitar in the middle of parking lots randomly 2) Factory tinted glass would also be neat. The reason I haven't gotten tint is because I'm afraid of wasting the money if it turns purple or fades in a year.3) Projector headlight and/or foglight option.4) I TOO would like to see the roof racks as an option instead of having no choice.5) Stronger stock battery!

8) a HARD cargo cover, instead of the joke with hooks we have now. The table from the Malibu Maxx will work fine, TY.

9) Adjustable seat back support bolster.10) About 1" more seat travel (backwards)11) More substantial Inside Door Handles (At least as good as the 'trix has now)

More power is right... Cobalts HP sucks IMO. If my 2003 PT has 215, the Dodge Neon has 220 or more and the older 2.4L Twin Cam in 1995 for Cavalier replaced by the ECO Tec had 150 HP and 150 lbs ft, why does the ECO have only 180 and is SC? GM should have at least 215! Come on! THe HP wars are back on!!!1) One peeve of my wife's is when the doors are locked, you cannot grab the inside door handle and it automatically opens the door and unlocks it. You need to manually unlock and open the door. This is more of a Japanese car thing, noticed when I was a Valet years ago too. My PT unlocks when grabbed. I have also taken apart the Vibes door to try and mod it myself, not much help since the door use cables instead of rods. Still thinking of a way though... May the 2005's do not have this???

THe HP wars are back on!!!well the cobalt power is pretty sweet.140 hp in base....180 in the ss...and 205 in ss sc......so dont think they are lacking there......as far as the neon goes dont know what the hp in base is but the srt4 is only 215 to 230 so not much better....but they are junk....nooo refinement in that car at all.......my buddy has one.had it for a year it is going bye bye nothing but junk in his opinion....he is gettin a tsx.Toyota's problem is that the cant make a 4 banger that has hp and torque....even at 10 billion rpm's.....gm has always been a high hp and torque company and now they are getting good fuel milage out of them too...the ecotec engine just need a vtec or a vvtl-i system to make it one of the best 4 bangers out there.

Oh right, I stand corrected and just looked the Cobalt SS 205 HP. Thought I read 180 before but no. I dunno, 205 versas 215 to 230 in the Dodge & PT (I just used those as an example) still seems to whimpy to me and in comparision is already dated. Oh well not to highjack tnpartsguy post...1) The Vibe needs tinted factory windows for the back, like an SUV... 2) No GLASS fog lamps! What was someone thinking! They will surely break, use lexan next time!

12) Side marker lights and side marker repeaters ala the Voltz....I just realized last night that all we have on the side are reflectors, not lights.

I think the side markers would just be one more thing people would be removing. My friend took his off his Balena's side markers and it looked waaaaay better imo.

I'd definately like to see more color choices...a nice metallic hunter green would look awesome. Maybe a nice subtle factory stripe job would look good....some pinstriping and such.Definately less plastic inside. If you're gonna stay with the plastic, have an option of color-coding the interior pannels (door trim, dash trim stuff like that)An option of Guage colors would be nice too....the GTO has that Option i believeand most importantly...MORE POWER!!!!! This 135 for the base is absurd...i'd say as a minimum 150 or 160 for the base. Maybe 200 for the GT (or more, that's up to you GT owners)Oh yeah, BETTER PAINT! QUIT CUTTING CORNERS ON THE FINISH!

just to let everyone know, the issue with the a/c compressor coming on during defrosting isn't anything new. i had a 98 pontiac sunfire, and my fiancee had a 96 cavalier, and they both did that. it's something that general motors has been doing for a while now (maybe only on the "low end" cars, not sure), but i do agree, it is very annoying, because it takes power away from the engine

It's not a GM thing. Most manufacturers do it. The compressor is necessary to dehumidify the air. It doesnt pull THAT much power from the engine...I've never found any significantly noticeable loss in performance using defrost vs. not.
