They are struts all around. I don't think anybody makes an aftermarket strut yet other than coilovers.

actually i think a shock is different then a struts. also the back are shocks, the front are struts. but my question was about what type are they? oil or gas?

More then likely there gas over oil.Bilstien makes great shocks and they should out last your car.If you buy them aftermarket they come with a lifetime warrantyIf you were buying them for off-road use or jumping I would recommend Fox Shoc's Nitrogen with remote's.Nothing in world compares.

well, i might just get them around 45k since i hate to get stock when i can spend just a little more and get awsome:-)
