Just out are crash test ratings for some small cars.
http://www.autospectator.com/m...d=880Does the VIBE/MAtrix have current detailed CTR, with and without Side Impact Airbags?

For real-world side impact results, check this thread (link to m-o.com)
http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=15280Don't know of any side-impact tests on the Matrix/Vibe.Apparently they just raised (literally) the height of the 'battering ram' (for lack of a better term) from previous tests, to more accurately simulate the impact of a large SUV against a small car.

NHTSA 2003/2004 Vibe - no side airbagshttp://
www.safercar.gov/NCAP/Cars/2927.htmlNHTSA 2005 Vibe - no side airbagshttp://
www.safercar.gov/NCAP/Cars/3385.html(Why the drop on front side? According to NHTSA & Toyota, the test wasn't changed and neither was the door, except for some trim to accomodate the curtain airbags. The 03/04 was just over 5 stars, the 05 just under 4 stars. NHTSA said results can be affected by how close to the acceleration sensor the rigs impacts.)I don't know of any with / without side airbag comparison tests.PS - The Corolla & Cobalt with side airbags are the only 2 small cars rated acceptable, and not poor, in that IIHS article. So it's at least good to know that the Vibe/Matrix is based off the Corolla.....
